You will probably get different responses but your answers depend upon what and how2 you are going to be using the car. also i dont know if you already have the cam in the works but it is usually better to get the cam ground after the rotating assembly has been chosen.
I am using forged srp pistons eagle 6" h beam rods and eagle stroker crank.

Like GTABANDIT said, you will get lots of particular people's preferences with a question like this. There are lots of different combos and manufacturers that make suitable parts that will more than get the job done however...
I used the following for my shortblock:
GM 2-bolt block (1-piece rear main seal)
Eagle splayed 4-bolt mains
Eagle 4340 forged crank
Eagle 4340 6" H-beam forged rods
Ross flat top two-relief forged pistons
Not exactly the best money can buy but should get the job done and be plenty durable while not breaking the bank . Going to splayed main caps is a big investment when it is all said and done though.

They usually have some really competitive prices.

Remember forged cranks are heavier and will come into performance play. Unless your pushing major hp I would stick with a good nodular cast crank. They make light versions of forged cranks but are very expensive. Make sure you match the parts with the performance you want dont over do it.
Heres a excerpt from a racing page.
Some really good building tips on this page.

In the days gone by, forged steel cranks were the way to go and they still are if you're building an all out racing engine. There are many types of steel used for making cranks, be them cast or forged and some cast cranks these days are just as strong (if not stronger) than older forged ones. There used to be just cast iron, nodular iron and steel. Now, for the most part, there's cast steel, 5130 and 5140 forged steel and 4340 forged steel available. The new cast steel cranks are very cost effective and plenty strong for even most racing engines. I have seen forged cranks break in half yet I have also seen cast cranks survive season after season in some race cars

Speaking from experience, go with Eagle H-beam rods. They clear large cams without any grinding.
A good cast crank should be fine unless you considering a power adder or really high RPMs.
Pistons?? Well, that's up to you. There's plenty of good ones avalilable.
