Adjustable fuel pressure regulator

Is there a reason to go from the stock regulator to an adjustable one?

Who sells a good quality, cheap regulator?

thank you

Yes its worth it...but they are not cheap...TPiS, Holley and Accel all make them... U can see a big gain in using one...

Put in a holley FPR, and did the injectors too, also did a set of pulleys and it took 3 tenths off my time

I would think that if everything under your hood is stock then you probably wouldnt benefit from an adjustable FPR (IMO). My engine is modified. My stock pressure was at 37psi when I hooked up the regulator and pressure gauge so I have since adjusted it to 45psi and it responds and runs much better. You will need some kind of fuel pressure gauge so you know what pressure you have and can then adjust accordingly. I have the BBK FPR and an Accel gauge that mounts to the fuel rail. Both parts were 70 bucks each. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong about needing one for a stock set-up.

Yea they are more for the modified engines but I have seen some people benifit alittle bit by installing one on there stock 305/350. I bought one from TPiS for my 350. No clue how it will aftect the performance but I know it will help...OH and just outta curiousity why is holley the better brand. I would think they all serve the same purpose so how is one better than another?

Get the holley one. I got one from ebay for 60 bucks brand new!!! (no plenum gaskets though)

It has a much easier to work with design as opposed to the others that use a screw which either interfeers with the plenum or is simply a PAIN to get to for adjustments.

Trust me, get the holley. - although, i also heard that the JET piece is good too .

The holley is a billet unit that utilizes a round dial on top to adjust pressure. You can adjust pressure with your finger rather than having to fish a wrench in there to access a bolt.

I wouldn't use anything else!

Guess I shoulda done a little more research first cuz my BBK bolt hits my plenum etc. and it pees me off. I am calling BBK for some answers and to find out if I can switch to a shorter bolt.

I had the Holley AFPR on my car until the diaphram broke and was pouring fuel into my plenum via the vacuum line I've had it off for about a year now. Anyone know where to get a replacement diaphram or if Holley warranties them or anything? THANKS!

For fear of sounding ghetto, I will first preface this: I am not into sh*tting up my car or anyone else's. I love a clean install on a clean engine just as much as the next guy. But....

You could always just modify your stock regulator and save some money. After spending $50 on my crane cams AFPR, I realized I could have just as easily dirlled a hole on the top of my regualtor cap, run a tap through it, drop a coin in over the spring and run a $.05 bolt into the threaded hole I just made. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT FOR $50! I cold have just spent $.10.

Or if you are real broke, you could just bump your stock fuel pressure by shimming the spring with coins, a nickel would give you a good 4-5 PSI.

Once again, I know this sounds ghetto, and I appologize!

Check the tech section if you wanna make one. There's a good artical there on how it's done.

Its a novel idea and I thought of this myself after I bought the BBK. However, my new fpr bolt was so high that it hit the side of the plenum and made it real hard to adjust and or put the plenum back on. I suppose I could have gotten a smaller bolt but I figured an fpr that had a dial instead of a bolt would be better. Thats why I bought the Holley. You are giving good info to those who want to save a few dollars.

I had the same problem, and a smaller bolt was the cure. No big deal there. But adjusting it with the plenum installed would be harder than watching that new Paris Hilton show.
