Need To Pass Emissions...help!!!!!!

hi......i need you guys to help me out. i live in new jersey first of all the worst state for polution ranked #1 and the emission laws are absolutley outrageous. i only failed for 2 things NOXs and HC
STANDARD IN NEW JERSEY
nox is 1110 and mine read 3456 fail
HC is 148 and mine read 152 fail

i forgot to take out my performance chip which it states shouldnt be used in emissions testing...forgot to change back to my old stock chip! took care of that.

i have a adjustable fuel pressure regulator and the psi was 50 psi and i lowered that to 42 stock psi. took care of that.

i passed CO OR CO2 OR WHATEVER ITS CALLED

is there any other thing i should change or check before goin back but i think those were two of my major mistakes. and yes new jersey is very strict so all the other states may be cool with it but not new jersey!

this testing all had to do with GAS obviously. HELP!!!:hail: :hail:

Did you by any chance have any additives in the fuel such as octane booster, fuel injector cleaner, or stp to remove water. These additives play heck with your emissions.

I don't know how much your car has been driven or how many tanks of gas you have gone thru since you put the gas cleaner in the tank. However, there will be trace amounts of the cleaner in the gas for awhile and it only takes a little bit to mess up the emissiions. Also, you mentioned ready to race, what octane fuel are you running in it? If it is between 87 to 93 octane, I would suggest just running two to three full tanks of good gas (not refilling when it gets down to 1/2 tank, but when it gets almost empty) thru it before testing again. If it is a higher octane as used in racing fuel, then you will need to drop the tank and flush the system out.

ok ill drive the car to try and get some of that stuff out shouldnt be to much and try to take it to the inspection again but the stock chip that i put back in and the fuel pressure setting back to stock should help as well. thanks again man.

NOx usually indicates EGR failure...how old is your EGR valve?

Mine passes NJ emissions no problem without one, but has enough cam duration (LT4 HOT cam) that external EGR doesn't appear to be needed. It blew cleaner than my wife's Accord last month, ran 13.2sec @ 103mph in the 1/4 mile with same engine and chip I used at smog testing.

my car ran super clean. i was well well well below the standard. Try a mixture of fuel treatments.
Couple bottles of FI cleaner
Fuel system cleaner
Emissions reducer
and some dry gass.

then take your fp to about 40... adjust your timing a little. Your NOx could be your egr and or cat clogged up. It could be either due to the more psi of fuel your running. This, combined with bad timing will leave tons of fuel clogging up the egr and cat. I live in NJ and we are having a huge car meet saturday the 20th. check out the site in my sig for details. If you go, i can check your timing and if someone brings a laptop, we can scan your computer.

well, i hear that if you bring the DMV a recept from a shop that says you got such and such fixed, they will pass you without testing. So if you knw anyone with a shop they can make a fake invoice and you can bring that to the dmv and yoru all set. Im not 100% on where and how to get there really. Im in the same boat you are! Right now im in school and am gunna head home for my gf's bday this weekend. If i get mroe info on the show, ill PM ya.
