Kinda bell shaped? Sounds like it could be an oil pressure sensor.

by location, it must be the oil pressure sensor.......there are two types, installed, one with a pressure switch plus an output for the oil pressure gauge, and one with only the switch.

the switch function is used to shutoff the electric fuel pump if there's a failure or to turn on the pump for 'limp home' mode.
