The engine will not hold a steady idle. When you go put the transmission in Drive it will drop like crazy. Even if you set the RPMs for when in Drive, when you turn on any accesories like headlights, AC, etc., the RPMs will drop too. My suggestion is don't do it.

Actually i don't want to do it, I bought a new one from Ac Delco when i replaced my throttle body and it went bad a month later. I don't have the cash to get another. I've been driving with it out for 3 weeks now. Car drives fine no dips in the idle at all in or out of gear. Same thing with the accessories no drop. I'll be getting a new one soon but the car has been fine with it unplugged.

The reason i asked the question is because recently I started getting a Code 13 and a Code 21. I set the tps to .54 volts with the car off but keyed to "on". Question about that as well, what should it read at idle with the car running, still .54 volts? I was wondering if having the iac unplugged could be realted to those codes

Your code 21 is a TPS code, and yes the voltage should be the same with key on/engine off, and with the engine on. The code 13 I believe is an oxygen sensor lean code.

ya it was definalty my tps, it showed 1.5 volts with it turned all the way down !!?? so i put in my spare on and it's all good. The computer was probably reading the tps voltage and enriching the mixture and causing the o2 to triger a lean code. It would go 3.75 volts at 1/4 throttle. I'm still going to put my new Heated o2 sensor in cause this one is probably the original.

I hate the IAC. Nice trying to stop the car when in drive and idling at 1500 rpm until fully stopped. Then when fully stopped, feeling the car 'un-load' the toque converter, and idle at 400. So I beat it by hooking up a switch to the IAC. That way I don't miss my cold starts, and when it's warm, I can just switch it off and enjoy a much better ride.
