No spark from the coil...Please HELP
I have an older 70's block with 91 heads and a TPI unit from a GTA. The motor is going into a 1972 4x4 Blazer but if any board knows about TPI motors it will be you guys. The problem i'm having is i'm not getting any spark from the coil. I am using a painless wiring harness with a seperate coil distributer. I DO have power at the coil and I have checked the distributer and it seems fine. If you guys have any ideas please let me know. Thanks

I just finished a swap similar to yours, and i had the same problem.
Mine ended up being the distributer cap at first. The button in the middle of it was not making good contact. Then just after that, the module went out.
Take the module and coil to Napa, and have them tested. If the module is bad, it is best to get an AC DELCO replacement, but if you HAVE to get one from Napa, get the expensive one. It is made in USA. I went through two of the cheap ones, then the manager gave me the good one just so i would be happy......Problem solved.

I've had two new coils on it and took the module and it tested O.K. The people that tested the module also gave me a spec of 500-1500 ohms on the plug that plugs on the module and it tested at 820 ohms so its good also. Can you think of anything else that an be the problem. One other thing, I had a custom chip burnt for my application and it is suposed to have the VATS removed. Is there a way to test it and make sure it is disabled. Thanks for the ideas.

Hmmm. I never thought of VATS. I have a little box that fools the ECU into thinking that the VATS is functioning. Maybe sombody else can chime in about that. I have no experience with it or any knowledge on how it works.
Did you check the pickup ciol?
