My Mom used to have that motor in her 93 Delta 88. It felt very strong for how heavy it was, with extremely smooth acceleration. Beat many of Hondas in that car while borrowing it when my car was down. Best thing was with her driving it would get more than 28 mpg.

We have a member on SOGM that has a 97 Buick Regal GS. which is TPI tecnically, it is supercharged from the factory. He runs low 14's right now, and after adding a overdrive pulley for the SC and some intake and exhuast work. She should pull a mid to low 13 next year with ease, traction pending... He is debating on a propane/water injection system to maybe bump her into the 12's

That's gotta be an early-mid 90s 3800 SFI motor. It made maybe 180-190. Later motors looked similar but had the added moniker of "Series II" on the engine cover and they were bumped up into the 200-220Hp range, depending on application.
My Mom's Buick Mushmobile has that exact engine in it. Makes decent power for a luxo-cruiser. The later "Series II" version of that engine in, say, a FWD Grand Prix (like I used to have briefly) is even more impressive, but nothing that's going to keep a guy with a V8 up at night.

Just to clarify a few things in short:
1) 3.8 TPI rating from 1991 to 1995 is 170 HP and 220-225lbs/ft, depending on the year.
2) Series II 3800 started in 1996 with a rating of 205 Hp and 230 lbs/ft.
3) The intake design and batch fire versus sequential fire injection are TWO SEPARATE THINGS!!! Example: the 1991 3.8 TPI utilizes batch fire injection while the 1995 3.8 TPI utilizes SFI. The intake design is the SAME, but how the injectors are fired is different.
4) Speaking from personal experience, they are awesome little motors! I owned a 1991 Buick Custom and finally got rid of it when it broke 400,000 miles (the tranny was hurting, but it was driveable). I now own a 1995 Buick Custom, also a great car. 156K on the odometer and running super.
5) If anyone is interested, I am using the Chilton manual for my Buicks to provide the info above.
