TPI cold start injector

I have what I believe is an 87 TPI system with the cold start injector. I was wondering if there is any way to remove the injector and cover it with some sort of blocking plate. Thanks for the help.

Yes, there is a "kit" that plugs the hole in the runner and in the fuel rail.

I thought Holley or Edelbrock had them but I couldn't find it on their sites, I believe they cost around $20-$25.

use a 7/8" freeze plug in place of the actual injector itself. some slight force will be needed to get it in. that's a good thing. use some silcone as extra protection. as for the plug on the fuel rail cut off the cap/nut that screws onto the rail and have the inside of the nut (the hole for the CSI fuel tube) welded shut. worked for me.

that's what i did when i udpated to 89' $6E code.

It richens up the mixture on startup to help it run smoother. It was removed in 89 and the programming in the chip was changed to richen the mixture up until it reached normal operating temperature. They should have done that in 86 when they went to the better computer (same computer from 86-89). The adapter harness I use on my 89 computer to attach it to my 85 harness eliminates wire to the cold start injector. I left it in place since I didn't have a "Kit" to replace it, besides, I can always swap my 85 computer back in any time I want this way....

No your 91 doesn't have one. And it only runs in open loop till the CTS reaches 140 (or was it 160?), unless something is wrong. The 90+ TPI's had a cold start enrichment routine that took the place of the cold start injector.
