Barely Running...MAF? Fuel? ? ? ?

My 'ROC isn't doin' too good right now. It seems like it runs when it wants to and dies when it wants to. It has erratic idle...and when you think it's running fine, leaving it in park, after about 3 mins it starts to cough and finally die. Out of the blue. I've been taking it around the block whenever I think it's OK just to make sure, and whenever i do it'll start to run rough after a while and then SOMETIMES throw a SES light. After that it usually dies. Codes were 33 and 36. Both MAF relays work though. The burnoff works after you shut it off. I had the MAF power relay replaced a while ago when the SES was constantly on b/c of code 33. But even then it never ran rough. The light was just annoying. SO, I'm wondering if the MAF is causing the roughness....or is the roughness messing with the MAF causing it to throw the SES???? I mean if it throws the codes right after it starts running rough, is it the MAF causing it or something else?

It could always be something else - like a vacum leak - trottle body, intake or EGR?

I had a similar problem and was getting a couple more codes as well. Apparently my ECM harness was loose and so were many of the other harness' under the hood. It's a good idea to check all harness' and maybe apply a little dialectric compound in the connections once a year. I would start the easy way. Just check all your connections, clear all your codes and see what happends. Also, I had a fuel pump relay problem that for some reason was giving me all the MAF codes. Best of luck.
