launching a 350

i'm about to buy a 91 firebird formula with the 350 in it. It's only mods are a shift kit, K&N filter, and heavy-duty radiator. i'm not too familiar with launching automatic cars (my current one is a 5-spd). what RPM should i launch the car at for optimal 1/4 mile times?

for my car i feel it works best when i put it in drive and then pressing the brake slighty, i start pressing down of the gas also untill the car feels like it going to start to move and then i start getting into the gas more when its time to go. u need to practice, but launching a 350 tpi auto can be tricky with all that torque sometimes. u need to work on a good 60 foot after that just make sure u have the gas all the way down. the car is going to fade away later in the run because our engines simply run out of horsepower.

i realize that....the tpi system was designed to get off the line quick, not run into the upper revs. i've heard that the holley Ram systems move the powerband towards the middle of the range. is that worth it?

nope not worth it with the stock 350. it might be worth it if you get dart heads and a monster cam headers/full exhaust..
