My MAF to SD pics

I completed the 870 to 730 ECM swap yesterday and man the results are amazing. It runs like a new engine, I think my MAF sensor was taking a crap on me. I love the new look too, thanks to everyone on the board who helped me along...

Here's my old plumbing, I had a home-depot cold-air setup...

...i was about to say DAM, DOES SD FREE UP THAT MUCH ROOM AROUND THE ENGINE?? then looked at the car in the sig... good job man! congrats on the swap. a faulty maf would give ya crap performance... oh well. One sugestion, keep the Home depot intake because that filter right there on the TB is gunna draw very hot air off the engine... just a sugestion...

Update: Man this thing sounds nice under WOT. You can really hear the intake scream and it sounds like a jet engine.

nice converstion. but my question is. why the heck the open element air filter? i mean. that has to eb the stupidest thing to do.. all u r doign is sucking in HOT air. HOT AIR = LESS HP!!

Hey JF,

I don't want to start a flame war or anything but 15.4 with a stock 305???? Were you at sea level in a lightweight stripper? Most 85 305's won't run but low 16's.

I am definitely not buying 13.79 with just the little bit you've done to that 305. I admit not knowing what a Crane AFPR is, but it had better be a blower..... I've had guys from Pomona tell me their 305 stick cars run 13's and not even break into the 14's here at Bakersfield. So you can understand why I am a little skeptical… BTW, stock LT1's only run 14.4's here, they'll run 14.1if you remove the cats….

HAHAHAHAH! ROTFLMFAO!!!!
Dude, you are not that smart... I ran 15.3 @90ish mph... no way right!!!! must be a stripper right!!! dude... get a clue... 305 TPI cars run low 15's. 305 TPI 5spds run upper 14's and the G92's... they run mid to low 14's... Your funny new guy. Too bad your thinking of maybe the carbed or tbi/cfi cars... My car with me in it is around 3600... thats a fully loaded car with ac, air, auto, radio, all seats, stuff in the trunk, and temps reaching 220 and up....

And where do you live!!! are you like 4,000 above sea level!!! 14.4 in an LT1!!!! holy crap thoes guys need to learn how to drive!! high 13's to low 14's is LT1 land and LS1 pics up from about mid 13's to high 12's. Wow... your track has some problems... Notice the mph next time.

Car: Guess
Engine: Crazy 8
Transmission: So close to being a manual I can taste it
Just to throw a little more wood on the fire, my stock 305 TPI with T5 ran mid 14s. My best was 14.4. I can't remember the mile per hour because its been a while. The car had only some cheese dick exhaust and my home made ram air that didn't look very trick, but it would help...

Just to be on the subject, Svelte, looking good. Makes me miss my Monte so much. It was a 71 though...

Try the stock snorkle or CAI setup pronto

When i swapped to SD I put on that same cone filter, yea it sounded cool but the power loss wasn't worth it.

We are at 700 feet above sea level and at 100 degrees or better most of the summer. At sea level those guys may be running that fast , but not here. When they come here we listen to their bragging and laugh at them as we smoke them and take their money.........

At sea level with slicks, with my 3600# car and 250# (not fat either) driver, my car would probably turn low 13's. With what's in it, it should be that fast here...... Once I figure out what's causing it to lean out so bad it will do much better.....
