Gains for Edelbrock High Flo TPI intake/base?
I got a really good deal on a Edelbrock Hiflo intake manifold, and some slp runners. Is this going to make a noticable difference? I searched this forum but didn't find much.
I am getting a large cam in about 2 weeks, and some slp headers in about a month. How do you guys think this setup will run? estimated numbers?
thanx alot.

i'm going with a similar setup on my vette. the big mouth lower intake slp runners and plenum. all ported and polished ready to go with either a 52 mm or 58 mm TB. 400 bucks for intake runners and plenum ready to go!
also going with the TPiS zz406 cam and 1.6 roller rockers and roller lifters. i hope to gain some noticable HP out of this setup. i'd be happy with 50-75 hp. we'll see!

i noticed in your sig that u have the 58mm throttlebody. all i got to say about that i think its abit overkill for a stock engine. if u were running 12s then id say go bigger on the throttlebody. and the combo that u are wanting to get .... it should havea power differnece to where u can feel it so why not!

I am intrested in this setup, my friend did the exact same mod and has yet to go faster at the track, though his 60s suck. He is still running as fast as he did before the setup and he has gotten a couple of good lauches. Still runs 14.2 with that and lts, orp, fm, cutout, and a hyper chip with 3.23s on a 350 TPI.

When I added an "out of the box" Edelbrock base and runners (along with plenum porting and 1.6 Roller rockers), I went from 14.4@94.7 to 14.0@98.5, gaining 30 RWHP. I'm going with a Stealthram now, so we'll see how that does after tuning and a transmission w/converter

I sold the base and runners to a buddy of mine - when it comes off my car on Sunday, its his. I gave him a good deal ($300 for base and runners, used of course) because we help each other out with our cars (the buddy system ). If the Stealth Ram was available back when I wanted to change my intake, though, I would have just went that route from the start.

pr0ject i'll let you know it should be the fall or early winter when i'm done
i'm going with 1.6 rockers roller lifters and the ZZ406 cam so i'm hoping mid to high 12's with a custom chip and trans go and a 2800 stall.
we shall see

yah that sounds pretty close to what i am going to be doing. for the 1.6's, you need different valve covers right? i am going to be getting a bigger cam though, somethin nasty...lol.
i have a 2400-2600 stall but i havent even got to test it yet because the guy i ordered the tranny and tc from off ebay sent me a bunk tranny.
so whenever i get the tranny back, i'll get to see what she runs now.
i think i'd be pretty happy with 12's when im done. jus wanna spank all the 4th gens that try n act tuff.

Dude, you should really port match all the new high flow intake parts. This will provide you with some very nice gains, alot more then just putting the parts on and hoping for the best. It will be time consuming but worth it in the end. After the intake and cam the heads will be holding you back, they flow really poor, like 200cfm@.500.
The intake ports on the Edelbrock base will probably be larger then the intake ports on the heads. If this is true you will have reversion and wont get maximum benefit ftom the intake upgrade.
Without head work I dont think you will hit the 12s.

Pr0ject,
you probably will need bigger valve covers. i know you can make them work with the stock corvette valve covers after cutting out some stuff so they clear. i'm gonna keep my stockers and cut them up so the motor still looks stock

yah i don't expect to hit 12's with just the intake. i said "when i'm done". but then again, i don't think i'll ever be "done"....lol
after intake base, runners, and plenum ported...the mods will continue..
slp headers, cam, 1.6 roller rockers/lifters, lil bigger injectors, fuel pump, msd 6al, and a custom prom to tune it to perfection.
i don't think 12's will be outta my reach...just the money is.
oo and then thinking futher...once my engine gives up, complete overhaul, forged pistons an a lil juice......

No not at all. No "serious" problems at all my man! I'm sure you'll come across another t5! Hope we're not getting too far off the original post here LOL.

T-5 now we are talking! thats what i'd like to put in my 82 Z/28 cause the T56 is a bit too pricey
freestylzz,
when you added the clutch pedal was there a knock out where it goes or did you have to actually cut a hole?

I noticed something similar. More power higher up and it pulled harder for longer. You'll love the new sound air coming in makes. Just be sure to port your plenum and match it to the runners, and the runners to the base. Siamese the plenum ports to match the runners.
By the way, I ended up grinding my SLP runners and my stock plenum to get everything to fit well. If you have an AFPR you may need to grind into the plenum a bit. It's nothing major, but you should leave time for it.
