best base timing for lb9
i have heard that the computer on my 86 lb9 will automatically retard the the timing if it senses any knock. That leaves me wondering what base timing i should put my engine at as too much will cause it to greatly retard the timing ending up hurting overall power . I have the 2030 compucam and ported stock heads. I also dont have a problem running 93 octane. Any ideas what timing will give me the most perofrmance?

Every car is different you need to go out start at 8-9 BTDC and drive the car. Come home adjust the timing up one degree, do this till it after you make one adjustment and it doesnt run as well as it did on the setting before, then I'd go 2 degrees back for safety sake. This is best to do at the track becuse you have ture hard numbers to go by which is what I did, best set is 10-11 BTDC for my car. If you do this at the track make sure you go to the line with the car at operating temp, this way you can be sure to leave at lest one constant.
