Cleaning Fuel Injectors

ok here is the deal..im going to replace the O rings for the injectors next week. I was wondering if there is any way i can clean my injectors myself while they are out of the car. Such as maybe soaking them in racing gas?? ive heard people suggest a few things...or should i have them serviced at a shop?

I took the setup shown in that thread a bit farther when I cleaned my injectors. I used a piece of old fuel rail I had from a Ford Contour, a couple of salvage yard injector clips from a Ford Mustang, then hooked it up to my air compressor line and regulate the pressure to 50 psi or so.

I've got a 1/4" NPT quick connect hose fitting from the air line that connects to high pressure fuel injected fuel line (regular fuel line will burst), then the rail connector. Disconnect the quick coupling, spray in some carb cleaner, and reconnect and pressurise for cleaning.

I got a used battery (core return) from the local Interstate Battery wharehouse for $5 and wired up a momentary switch (press on/release off) from Radio Shack to fire the injector. I hit the button like I'm playing a PS2 war game and after about a minute of firing the injector is producing a noticeably better spray pattern. The way I have it set up, I can turn the injector around backwards for a reverse flow too. Not as good as sending them away to be cleaned professionally, but I bet I can get it back to 95% of what it was supposed to be...

Now, if only I would build a timing circuit controlled injector controller with a programable momentary switch... Hummmmmmmm... buy a ECM test bench set up, hook up the injector, and kill two birds with one stone?????
