Thanks, I've gone to the track twice, once when it was stock and once after dynoing. Both times I had a wonderful assortment of problems and ran very embarrasing times. I'm going back once everything is fixed. I've G-teched at 97 MPH with my old exhaust before but everyone knows what g-tech times are worth.

whats wrong with the motor? aside from it being a 305...lol... it only had 190hp to start with.

My 86 did the same damn thing...and I even replaced the peanut cam. (embarassingly enough)

167hp/239tq

of course, theres still a few things wrong, but no excuses.
It's just a turd.

on a worse note, the best time I've managed out of it so far is a 14.99@92.

forgot to mention I've got 3.73s in it too.
The one I used was the compucam 2040...or what used to be. And to make it worse, i cant recall the specs offhand, but it works well enough.

when i first got the damn car, it ran like a TBI car. 16.1@82ish...heh

Stiffler, your numbers are right there with mine. The only difference really is I have an automatic with a 2800 stall TC. I would think you would be running 13's with me. What gears are you running.

I have 3.42 in the back... I would think if I could knock off some 60' times I would get it down to a 14.1 and maybe with the wind blowing behind me a 13.999 is what i dream of out of my 305..

I don't know anything about dyno runs, but why do you start at a certain rpm when you floor it?

jfreeman, how much did you pay for your whole exchaust system? I'm thinking abou the same setup. Also can I see how you gutted your air box. My car is running awesome after I plugged in the maf sensor :lala:

i just got an 86 IROC with a 305tpi. I would be willing to bet that there are 2.73 in the rear. All stock, what kinda numbers should I expect to run in the quarter?

15.4@92mph; you can figure out the power numbers from that trap speed I'm sure.

100% bone stock 1988 G92 305 IROC. No factory A/C (no it's not a 1LE). Delco air filters, GM exhaust, etc. Previous owner did not do one mod to this thing.

This car is capable of hitting 14's 100% bone stock. I just need to launch properly so I have some traction.

The Random Tech catback was $330 from www.thunderracing.com. I got the SLP headers on a group purchase on this site for around $600 and got the Car-Sound Cat for $60.

The reason is that they have to make the run in one gear without shifting. The gear they use in an automatic is 3rd so they usually start at a high RPM before he goes WOT. He brings the car to speed until the tranny shifts to 3rd then he backs down a little until stable then the floors it. Also they remove the TV cable to keep it from downshifting. On a manual they might use 2nd gear but not sure, and they start at a much lower RPM before flooring it. My car did the run on 3rd and the speedo was going about 110MPH when he reached 5K RPM.

Here is my dyno sheet:

You always try to use your 1:1 gear for the dyno to minimize tranny losses. But I think that would also increase the frictional loss in the rest of the drivetrain? I dynoed in 4th gear on my T5.

I would think you would use 3rd gear with an auto for a dyno, because of the 1:1 gear ratio.

I ran on a mustang dynometer today and did 176rwhp and 220rwtq. I didnt know but I guess that the mustang dynometers are used for deisel trucks and there not to acurate for cars. Im gonna get a on a DynoJet soon and ill let u know what I do.

What kinda dynos did u guys run on. A mustang Dynometer or a DynoJet. The Mustang Dynometer has 2 rollers, the DynoJet has one big drum roller.
