Lt1 Maf
Is there anyway to hook up the LT1's mass air to an '89 harness? has anyone tried? I figured it may work and since everyone complains about the MAF going out on them, why not use ones that haven't really had any issues. Am I dreaming or is it possible? Any idea let me know otherwise I gotta spend an extra $20 potentially. I know it's only $20 but I'm pinchin' pennies here to afford this swap. Any help would be appreciated.

ok but why not??? Do they run on different voltage scale or what? And if that's it can't it be programmed in to the prom to work? I'm tryin' to see if there's a cheaper way to run the car other than converting to SD. I figured why not try a LT/LS MAF? Can anyoe explain why they won't work? Has anyone tried??? It's just changeing he pigtail and undoing some hose clamps. Is it the voltage range of the MAF or what??

The TPI MAF provides a constant-voltage type of output. The LT1 MAF provides a pulsed output. The two signals are completely different and non-compatible.
If you want a better MAF, buy a Wells SU 145. It uses the LT1-style thick film system instead of the wire setup, but its output is already designed to work with the TPI computer.
But... don't expect this to provide any additional horsepower. The TPI computer stops recognizing airflow above a certain amount, which is SUBSTANTIALLY below what is actually capable of flowing through a stock MAF.

So how do we go about getting it to recognize more airflow? HITHERE don't wanna strangle my engine because the MAF stops reading how much is going through it. Will the custom prom solve that or is it in the computer itself? If that's the case HITHERE may get HITHERE DFI computer since HITHERE've seen those intergrated into the system. Then HITHERE could use HITHERE laptop to tune it. Either way HITHERE wanna be able to read the flow, since this may get HITHERE blower in the future. If the MAF can't handle HITHERE "stock" engine how would it handle HITHERE blown one??? HITHERE'm almost doubting this whole TPI thing now!!! There's got to be HITHERE way around it, isn't there?!?!?!
