ECM Swap

I have an 89 firebird, 350 TPI, MAF car.
I want to change to SPeed Density. There is a car locally being parted out. 92 Camaro 305 throttle body. Can I use this computer? I realize other things are needed (wire harness, sensors, etc.). Really just curious about the computer.

Thanks

I want to do this to my car to but was wondering if I could do it with just the ECM and knock sensor swap or do I need to get a whole wiring harness too?

TBI cars use a computer with about as much calculating power as those old solar powered calculators that came free with a carton of cigarettes.

The computer you need showed up on the Speed Density TPI f-bodies and a bunch of V6 cars (barettas, etc). It's the 730 ECM.

Will the (1227749 ECM. 1991-1993 GMC Syclone/Typhoon, 1988 Quad-4, 1987-90 Turbo Sunbird) ECM work for a non boosted car??.

I plan to eventually get a supercharger later on. This would allow for that upgrade without doing the ECM swap twice.

Thanks

Edit: On second thought. I will just do the regular Speed Density COnversion first. Might be easier for tning purposes this way.

For the record a 730 will work with $58 SyTy code, provided you use a SyTy calibration, with the harness repinned to match a SyTy and add a 2-Bar MAP sensor. I swapped out my 749 on the Malibu, and without ANY changes to the prom or harness(SyTy pinout), swapped in a 730 in place of the 749 and everything worked as it should.

Now mind, it is important that you use saturated (high imp) injectors, and repin the harness as a SyTy (see diy-efi ftp site for wiring diagrams) as a 730 only has one injector driver. The 749 has a second driver in order to run P/H injectors (4 with stock FETs) in the Turbo Sunbird, it is not needed if you use TPI injectors.

Yes a 749 will run in a non boost application but the MAP must be changed to a 1 bar and 90-92 SD code loaded into the prom. Also the harness will have to be wired as a 90-92 F-body.
Basically the reverse of swapping to a 749 from a 730.
