Serious Help Needed
Anyone that knows about TPI... My car Starts but runs like ****..it wont idle at all i cant just hold the pedal to keep it started i have to keep hitting it...I bought a fuel pressure gauge and the pressure gets up to about 42 right when i turn the key to the on position...I can here fuel pump kick on for 2 seconds but i leave the key on and the fuel pressure drops steadily till it gets below 20. ANY HELP IS NEEDED

Sounds like maybe your MAF sensor died...not sure if this works on the '85 but on '86-'89 MAF cars you can disconnect the MAF which forces the ECM to run off the static table. If it runs OK w/ the MAF disconnected, you know you got a dead MAF.
Might be worth trying?

it could be a number of things..Your maf isnt gunna be one really.. check your IAC and then check your EGR valve. the EGR will effect your idle. Ive had this problem before on another car and after i had teh EGR cleaned out, the idle was much improved. get the EGR cleanned out or get a new one if needed.

Have you checked for any codes? It could be MAF, EGR, or IAC. It could also be a problem with your ignition.

That has all the info needed to check your MAF.
$20 says it's not your MAF.
If you aren't holding fuel pressure it's not sensor related, it's fuel delivery. MAF is air delivery.
Connect your Fuel Pressure Gauge. Start your car, as you say the pressure goes to 42. Then turn the car off quick and see if the pressure drops. If it holds, then I bet it's your fuel pump. Someone back me up on this.
If it falls, it means you have a leak somewhere, either the check valve (I think that's what it's called. Is on the return line) in the fuel pump/tank, leaking injectors, or possibly your Fuel Pressure Regulator.
When you get the car running.... and you give it more gas, does it actually rev up, or does it stumble over itself and die?

Yes It Revs Up...I know how to check codes using GM Fork key...Im gonna crimp the return line and then check the pressure..If it still falls its the Check Valve Right????
If it dosnt fall then its the regulator???
Does that sound right??

Update
I crimped the return Fuel line and I still Lost Pressure What does this mean?
While I had the Line Crimped i decided to try to start the car...Well it started and it ran normally with no more pressure loss but when i turned the car off and turned the key back to the on position it lost pressure again.

Your Mass Airflow sensor is connected to it. If the MAF and rubber intake tube isn't connected to the throttle body, the engine isn't drawing air through the mass airflow sensor. If the flow sensor isn't reading any air, it's sending a signal to the ecm showing zero air. So connect it back up so the flow sensor can measure the air for the engine. Come back and tell us that solved everything.

No it wouldnt start with the ribbed thing connected i put a different MAF on it and it runs but its still throwing the code im going to clean the connection and if it still throws the code I'll buy a new MAF sensor
