Pottential of the 305 tpi

How much power can be made with these engines. I want to be able to hit mid to low12's. I plan on doing a complete rebuild. So what can the 305's do.

Mid to low 12s are perfectly possible. There are a few people here doing that. Willie on the power adder board runs a 12 flat at about 116mph.

It all comes down to how much you are willing to spend.

the 305 tpi is like any other engine...yea it has a smaller bore then a 350 but can still make good power

the key to buidling a 305 is buying parts that are a little "overkill" so that when u build your 350 these parts will be perfect..

theres a guy here name tim burgess...hes got a 305 tpi with a tpis big mouth base large tube runners stock ported heads and a tpis l98 super profile cam and hes crankin 410 hp....transer those same parts to a 350 and you gonna be makein some real good power...

TRW/Speedpro makes forged pistons.
The new TRW forged comes with much tighter recommended side clearance and teflon coated skirts
Out of the box the TRW's need a little deburring & polishing to smooth the edges, but they work and they are much better than they used to be. 305 pistons run around $400 & actually cost more than 350 pistons.

Curious why you want to stick with the 305 when a 350 would probably cost you less in the long run and parts are plentiful.

You sound like me, just have it stuck in your head and can't get it out. I have the same thing going on for a t-5 swap into my vette, better trannys out there but I want to make it work. I am even trying to install it at the angle it is in the f-body.

No matter what, good luck!

Now your talking!

I am going to put a 383 in my vette next year if the tranny survives behind a 350 for this summer. Then transplant my LT1 intake from the Formula into the vette and put a Holley Stealth Ram with a supercharger in the Formula. Should be fun!
