AS&M SS runners

I have these runners on my 92 GTA. I am wondering about the 1/2" tubes that are made to these runners, what are they for & should either or both of them be plugged off?

I don't know what the "SS" runners are, but I have the AS&M runners. AS&M use the same set of runners for '85-88 and '89-92 setups. Then they block off the tubes accordingly. If you order a set for a '89 or later, they will go ahead and fill the drivers side tube w/ RTV. If you order for '88 and earlier, they leave it open.

I ordered them for my 92, but it wasn't plugged with RTV. So just the one on the drivers side should be plugged?
BTW, SS stands for semi siamesed.
Thanks

Hmmmm, thats wierd, because when I ordered mine for a '92 it came plugged. I don't think it matters though, because I don't think the '92 has holes in the plenum for the tube, so its just dead space. You may want to look at your plenum behind the runner to confirm this. The 85-88 TPI's used the drivers side tube for the idle circuit, so that the cold start valve could spray fuel into idle air. When the cold start valve was deleted the idle circuit moved. I found this out when I installed the "later" style runners on my early plenum. It would not idle. I had to pick out all the RTV AS&M fill the tube with so that my car would idle.

On a side note, I see that you said they were already installed. Do you have any vacuum leaks? I cannot get those runners to seal to my Accel base. I got a massive vacuum leak at the bottom. It seals fine to the plenum, just not the base. I used the gaskets AS&M sent me.

No vaccum leaks, but I put a little RTV on my gaskets.
I also filled both of my 1/2" runner tubes with RTV before I installed them, it idled great but used a lot of oil. I assume that the passenger side runner isn't supposed to be plugged & that is what caused the oil burning. I have the engine out, and am preparing to drop in a 406 and do not want to make the same mistake twice.

What gaskets are you going to use when you put it back together? The AS&M gaskets are much larger then stock, but I don't have to have to buy more from AS&M if they even sell them seperately.

Yes, they sell them seperately but they are about $30 a set, that is what I am using.
