How difficult is it to repair helicoil in am edelbrock head?
i recently purchased aset of 6085 edelbrock heads with only 3k miles on them. there r in great shape. the only thing that concerns me is a thread on the driver's side head ,were the power steering and alternator bolt up. iwas crossthreaded and the helicoil in the hole is shot. how would it be removed? and a new one inserted? bye the way should i notice a big gain over my current combo? i am also adding the edelbrock base?
thanks

Those can be kind of a PITA to fix sometimes. Its already helicoiled now? If the helicoil itself is actually damaged (I'd be surprised), you basically have to unwind it from the hole. Sometimes you can grab the end and just pull it out, but many times it'll get jammed in there doing it like that. Installation after getting the old one out is simple, as long as you have the insert and the tool... or something just like the tool.
