dyno #s for my Z

Finally brought my car to the dyno and got some numbers. the best were:
Peak RWHP 303.7 @ 5100
Peak RWTQ 356.6 @ 3700
If I use 20% loss thats 364.4 HP and 427.9 TQ at the motor. I dont think that went to bad but I was hoping for around 325 - 330 RWHP with my setup. I also thought my peak power would be up higher. What do you guys think? I think I need more cam !
By the way a newer(LS1)WS6 was up there also and it made around 300 RWHP and 310 RWTQ.

Kevin91Z made the kind of numbers you want, with more torque even with LTRs and ported vette heads w/ that cam. Maybe the problem is in the tune, and those dinky TES headers (he has SLP 1 3/4)

Yeah my tune might be a little off but I think the motors hitting a bottleneck somewhere else. Thats why I thought the cam. Also the superram is untouched and, knowing what I know, I probably should have ported the base. I hear what your sayin about the headers too. So I guess its either get some 1 3/4 long tubes, custom y pipe and put a bigger cam in(also port the lower intake while I have it off ) or get a charger!! What do you guys think about that 230/244 comp cam. Id rather not take the damn superram off(its a PITA to install/remove) but maybe Ill get bored over the winter.
FYI I had the A/F meter hooked up and at WOT the ratio was 14:1 so I burnt another chip to get it to around 12:1(didnt wanna detonate like crazy) I didnt see detonation on the lean run and I saw no more power in the 12:1 run. Does this seem strange or is it just me?

I would think a 58mm throttle body would be an overkill even with your setup. I mean the stock 48mm could handle 400hp.

Dude I dont think the throttle body has that much to do with it either way but I was already getting a new intake so I figured I might as well do the whole thing. And since the 58 is like $10 more that the 52 I decided to get it. But anyway TB size isnt really that important but a larger one wouldnt hurt WOT performance which is what this thread is about.

Hey Mike.
We have almost identical setups. I am running AFR 190's, Hot cam, 1.6 rr's, SuperRam upper and lower, TES, etc.
Do you have any track times?
I am about to do a cam change also. From what I've seen, the hotcam doesn't seem to be the hot ticket for these setups.
I have been doing alot of research and getting recomendations from others with these setups. Seems like the consensus is go with a single pattern cam when you run the SR with a good set of heads, something like the LPE 219/219 works awsome. I want more duration personally so I am planning on a Comp 230/230 grind with .560/.560 lift with 1.5 rr's on a 110 lsa.
I'm also considering a 224/224 duration with the same lift with 1.6's.
good luck

I'd have to agree with 87FAKE, on cam selection. I've done some followup research on what to run with the SR. I pulled my engine just last Mon, in order to trade out my hot cam for my new(used) LPE 219 cam and a decent set of heads . Not to mention my block is currently sitting in a local machine shop getting ready to be stroked. It's too bad I can't afford Hookers just yet, meaning I'll have to run the TES with 383 cubes. Anyway, Mike89Z, I think you car is putting down great numbers considering it's not tuned. Even though Kevin91Z, is putting down more power, the big diff. comes from him having a stick. If you had a manual and close to perfect tuning like Kevin, you'd probably be putting 330hp to the wheels. Also to you guys with the SR and AFR's, did you do any cleanup work on your heads? I've noticed that on the two inner exhaust ports of each head, there seems to be a little ridge that could benefit from some mild grinding/polishing. I'm also wondering If I should apply a mirror-like polishing job on the exhaust ports, since I have a new porting kit that I bough for the SR, and if it would give an increase in power?

I run my AFR's straight out of the box. I ported my old aluminum L98s but am hesitant to mess with the pretty CNC job on the AFRs.
I never noticed that ridge on my 190's. I did notice that there was a very minute ridge in every port where the CNC patterns met, don't see it hurting anything much.
If you have a ridge though, I'd smooth in out, anything to help out the exhaust port is good.

I dynoed 300 @ 4600 and 380 tq at 3200 with a 383, 9:1, AFR 190's superram. 214-220 crane cam and slp exhaust.

Your numbers aren't that bad. Try going back to the dyno and running open exhaust, I think the cat and headers are killing you, doens't matter if it's new or not.

The hot cam should make about the same numbers as the 219. You just need to find it, join the 'lost horsepower' club.

Actually your flywheel #'s are just a bit low. When converting rw figures to flywheel divide by .80(20 %loss) for an auto and .85(15%) for a stick car. Your flywheel #'s are now 379.6hp and 445tq. Nice #'s though.
