LT4 intake/vortec heads???

Anyone running this yet? A buddy in my area has a ZZ430 clone motor thats carbed and he's going LT4 intake this winter. (has fastburn heads) I found a set of vortec's CHEAP locally and I'm thinking about going LT4 intake this winter with them. How mcuh you think I'll gain over my siamesed base/stock runner/plenum/TB and mildly ported Iron L98 heads. Right now the car seems to run out at about 5200. I think thats really low for the hotcam. The car pulled this high with stock cammed 305 with STOCK intake.

*Also, couldn't I have the vortec heads drilled for the LT4 intake bolt pattern?? This would help out some on modifying it!

THANKS!!!

I've been running that exact same setup for about 8 months now. The LT4 intake will not work with the Vortec bolt pattern. I've never heard of anyone getting the Vortecs drilled with an LT1/4 bolt pattern but that would be a great idea because you wouldn't have to touch the intake other than tapping for coolant passages and drilling the distributor hole. Those were the easy things. Modifying the bolt holes was definitely the most difficult part of the swap.

As for power gains, with prom tuning it will be significant. Those iron L98 heads are killing you in the high rpms right now and the basically stock TPI is adding to that.

As of right now, my setup w/ Fast Burn heads will pull easily to 6500 rpm. I'm in the later stages of prom tuning right now and am very pleased with the results so far. Once I get everything squared away, I'm headed to the dyno and then to the track to see what it's capable of. I think you'll be very impressed with this setup if you decide to do it. The only thing I'm dissapointed with is that I wish i had gone with a bigger cam! This setup is capable of so much more!
