You just need to tap the dowel pin in a little bit to use an Lt1 style cam in a regular SBC roller motor like ours.

No i dont. Its a fully loaded engine (MSD, TRICK FLOW G2s, 1.6 Crane gold RR's, Stealthram, etc.)
What is it you have to do, tap the dowel pin? Thats it right?

Yep that's right! THat's all you need to do! With trickflow G2s and a StealthRam I'd even spring for a cc306 !

FWIW - on one engine that I was working on we were not able to tap the dowel pin in. So, we wrapped up the cam real good and used a whizzy wheel to cut the pin and then a file to bevel the edges. Worked like a charm. However, you shouldn't need to worry about this if you are buying the cam new. You can order that cam from Comp Cams with the correct length dowel pin.

Cant you just pull the pin out of the old cam and put it in the new cam?

Sounds like a nice setup though . I would have gone with the cc306, but that is me.

Glad traxion brought it up. I also had to cut the pin down to the correct size after trying to drive it farther into the cam. I wasn't aware that you could order it w/ the shorter pin. Good to know.
