Running EGR on the LT1 intake or the Stealth Ram

I have to pass emissions but at the same time I am interested in the Stealth Ram and the LT1 intake. I was wondering if it was possible to rig up EGR on the LT1 or Stealth Ram. My idea is to run a pipe from the headers to a box with the stock EGR valve mounted on top. The box would have to have a divider in it so that the valve could regulate the flow of exhaust gas. Then run a pipe from the EGR valve box to the intake. Would this work? Or do you need to have the EGR system output exhaust gas into each cylinders intake track (like the TPI intake) instead of into the plenum to pass emissions?

I drew up a diagram of my idea. (This is not my engine, just some picture I found online)

You don't have to have one like the TPI setup. External EGR valves are used all the time. The LT1 intake uses an external EGR for example. Simular to what you drew in the picture.

You don't need an EGR to pass a sniffer test. You need EGR to pass a visual. But a custom EGR on a non-CARB legal intake is just as illegal as no EGR at all for visual inspection. And here in NOVA they'll fail you for not having the thermac hose on a TBI car let alone a custom work around for a non legal intake.

If you want to run a real intake on a car in this area, just plan on swapping the stock TPI back on every year for emmisions AND saftey inspection. Thats right, even though e-checks are every 2 years, visual emmisions systems checks are written into the yearly safety inspection code in this state i know, but true.

I have a hook up to pass visual inspection. But my car has to pass the sniffer test. So you are saying it will pass without EGR?

It should. If it doesn't then something isn't quite right in your tune...
