need help!!!!
i have an 86 iroc 305 tpi. just got a summitt cam kit, got everything in but the springs (cant get them out) would i be able to break the cam in with stock springs, then drive it to get the new springs that came with the kit put in?

That's not a problem. Years ago we would assemble heads with
light springs, then after the break in period put the heavy springs
in. This was to help break in a flat tappet cam properly.
I don't think roller cams need a break in period. But the lighter
spring won't hurt you any. Roller cams don't wear into the lifter
either like flat tappet cams do so there is no need to keep roller
lifters with their lobes on a tear down.

You need one of these. KD Tools part# 912.
Remove the rockers and spark plugs. Use a compression tester
hose with the valve core removed screwed into the plug hole and
hook it to an air hose. This will push the piston down and hold the
valves shut. Put the tool on a rocker stud with a nut and
compress the spring and remove the keepers. Works slicker
than snot on a door ****.
