Very First Track Times

Well i got my first track time. I don't have any way to scan the slip so i'l just put it.

This is 1/8 Mile

Reaction: 1.143
T1: 2.262
T2: 6.714

E.T.: 10.334
Mph: 70.414

I got beat my a 2001 SS Camaro. He ran a 9.408 at 78.311 mph.

Is this bad, good just plain out nasty or what. Keep in mind my car has over 200k miles and burns oil pretty bad.

That guy in the '01 SS should have his car taken away. My 12 year old Iroc with 3.73's a muffler, K&N and a shift kit ran 9.40's in the 1/8. I was a few mph slower though. He should have been somewhere closer to mid 8's.

My car ran a 9.566@72mph in the 1/8 on this particular slip I am looking at. Your 60' time killed you, you should have been to about 10.1 which is pretty respectible for the car considering what you say about it.

Are you sure it wasnt a 2001 V-6 with SS badging?....

I ran a 9.1@77.5 mph in a bad state of tune, before I even got my exhaust. The ET is good for you, but not for Mr. SS

Hell, I ran a 9.36 at 77 and change, with a dieing tranny. That SS needs a good home. Pretty fair times for what you have! Just keep working at it.

Well my main problem was that it was my first time. My buddy's 94 mustang gt has headers, a gear drive, and off road h-pipe. Hell he ran an 8.40. That really pissed me off the most. Another guy i know in a91 gt which is bone stock ran a 9.26. Why does a car with 3 cubic inches less that what i have run so much better.

the ss hasnt even come to life yet at 78 mph, try racing him to 140mph

mustangs are faster, because they're lighter and have more power.

Ford's 302 has a much better bore to stroke ratio than Chevy's 305. The 305's small bore is what makes it so hard to create power.

From what I have heard, a 10 second 1/8 is about a 15sec. 1/4 a 9sec. 1/8 is about a 14sec. 1/8 and so forth.

I know what your saying nsimmons. He started pulling really hard close to the end of the track. He woulda made me look real bad in a 1/4.

I'd agree with that.

To calculate 1/4 mile time from an 1/8 mile run, multiply your ET by 1.5 and you'll get a rough idea of what your quarter will be.
