I also saw the Summit cam and it looks quite good and has been actually tested on an 86 IROC 305TPI and they claim a 40HP increase.

ask zepher what he had in his. He had tpi, but I dont think his block was a roller motor, but i believe he had a decent cam in his 305.

I installed the Summit Cam in my 86 Z28 with the TPI and was fairly happy with the performance. There is no doubt you will notice it. I have no performance numbers for you. The idle was slightly rougher, but not something In my opinion to shy you away. It was very streetable, and performed even better when I added the TES system from Edelbrock and did some mild porting while the intake and runners were off. I installed the cam in my camaro about 9 years ago when Summit first offered the cam....and its still in there. Hope you enjoy the cam if you buy it, and don't forget to replace the valve springs while your there, especially if you have any mileage on your 305.(not a bad idea to replace those lousy oils seals on the valve stems with the premium ones, and make that morning blue smoke go away!!)

He had way too much cam in that car. The cam in his car was more radical than what I'm running in my 355, and he had stock heads. The car sounded like a monster, but dispite what he may have said, I doubt it would have run better than mid/high 14s. We'll never know because he grenaded it before he got to run it. Probably because it didn't make any power until 4,500 rpm, and living at 4,500+ all day long on a tired LG4 isn't going to provide the most reliable setup.

Just make sure that you don't go with too much cam. Bigger doesn't mean better if you don't have the motor to support it.

i have the comp cam 212/212 444/444 112. nice idle, and good vacuum. i'm happy with it. i couldn't tell you the performance gains, because i bought the car with a bad motor and just rebuilt it. best of luck, tom

p.s. please let us know what cam you choose.
