base porting

base porting
i have seen the article on porting the plenium but everyone says there are more benefits in porting the base but nowhere have i seen what is to be ported or how to do it

The idea is to siamese the runners of the base to gain high RPM flow and smooth out the torque curve. Here is a pic of mine:

Go and ask this on the tech/general engine board and Vader with show you an artical he has on base porting/plenum porting. Or you could extensively search for it.

What are you guys using to port it with. I have an air dremel tool, but can't find any attachments that work worth a shi*. Any ideas? What do aluminum head porters use?? THX

A die grinder and 1 carbide burr is more than enough.
"Aluminum porters" use a longer bigger version of a dremel specifically made for porting.

Use a pneumatic Die Grinder with a carbide grinding burr and be sure to use gear oil to lube the bit every few minutes while porting. The gear oil is awesome at keeping the bit cool and free of AL in the teeth. Read the tech article on siamesing the base on this site.

Thanks guys. What I have is actually an air die grinder, not just a little dremel tool. Anyways, thanks for the quick responses. I wish I would've just used the mills at college last semester. I could've siamesed this thing in a half hour or so.
