Fel Pro 1204 or 1205 for Super Ram base???

what are you guys using with the SR base? When I bought mine, Rich suggested the 1205, so that's what I bought. A topic just erupted on the corvetteforum and everybody is saying that the 1205 is too big and doesn't seal well to the manifold. Before I install this I want to make sure I've got it right.

Well I don't have a SR base, but I do have a stock base that I ported to match a set of 1205s. I did get the intake to seal to the heads, but my porting just about came back and bit me in the ***... Just not enough material on that stock base to match it 100%.... But I would think a SR base should have enough material to do it... Match it that is. I think you will want to gasket match them while you are there as it is free power and will ensure the best fit. If the SR base doesn't have enough material to match it to a 1205, then it is not as nice of a base as one would think...

I use the 1204s for the SR base...fits perfect both on the intake and head side without any porting, plus that's what AFR recommends for their 190 heads. (which is what I have)

IIRC you could use the 1205s but you'd have to open up the ports to match them. And I'm not sure how much material is on the ports to grind away so you'd definitely have to be careful.

For a hassle free bolt in, go with the 1204s.

I just ported mine to a Mr. Gasket small race port gasket, which I believe is the same as the Fel Pro 1205. This is what a local speed shop gave me when I asked for 1205's. I'm attaching a picture of the gasket on the intake before I did any porting, note the intake has plenty of material to do this. I did notice that the cast ports did not match well, on one set of ports I had to remove a lot of material from the top and on the other set I have to remove a lot of material from the bottom. And in several places the divider wall was thinner than the gasket, and this wall thickness varied. Made it a little more fun to blend everything, but not too bad. It all matches good now! Good luck.

I used a 1205 on mine and didnt have any problems. It fits the Trickflow heads really well, also the 1205 is what Trickflow said to use with there heads. Maybe I just got lucky but didnt see any problems it matched really well. After I ported the base you could see the head and intake match thru the base runner with a flashlight and it looked pretty good to me.

Jim If you havent installed the base yet, port it! I just ported the base and the SuperRam runners opened them up to 1.75.

Big difference in power! I also added SLP 1 3/4 headers and a Flowmaster 2.5 to 3" ypipe so that might have helped too.

Oh wow, that pic of that SR base and a 1205 looks WAAAAAAYYYYY better than what a 1205 looks like on a stock base... So if I got my stock base matched up very nicely to a 1205, you should have NO problem getting a SR base out to a 1205.
