one horse per cube 305 ?
When it comes time to upgrade my engine my target is 1hp per cube. If I keep the 305 (be silent all you 350 guys -- I have my reasons) I am finding few resources telling me what would it take ? Not many examples out there of 1hp per cube 305s.
I found one article in Camaro Performers where they claim to have attached World Products S/R Torquer 305 heads with 1 5/8s headers to an otherwise stock setup and reached 1hp+ per cube and over 350lbs+ torque. That seemed abit of a s t r e t c h to me but I have to say the magazine articles author's stressed repeatedly that the engine was otherwise an absolutely stock TPI -- it seems they were very surprised by the outcome of the S/R upgrade.
Has anyone in this region built up a 305 with this kind of power for the street ? Any idea what kind of power numbers can be attained from a 305 TPI ? I built a 305 TBI years ago that made mondo power and (of course) totalled the T5 on the 2nd or 3rd power shift so have learned that you don't want to put more than 325hp and about 325lbs torque to the Borg-Warner. If it turns out to be the best solution I would also look to a Powerdyne or Vortech style centrifugal charger.
Comments ? Experiences ? Suggestions ?

I would have to say 305 horse would be easy to accomplish with a nice roller cam, roller rockers, Heads, Intake base and Runners. Thats what I would do. A simple cam and heads may do it... but I would suggest getting some more air in via after market intak ebase and runners. And if you want the polished TPI look.. you can get large tube runners pre-polished.
