How's it goin, eh?

I posted the following in the carburetor tech board, but I thought I'd post it here as well since it's specifically related to Canadian model 3rd gen. I hope somebody here might be able to help me:

I have:

1982 Trans Am
STOCK non CC Quadrajet
305 LG4
Posi
80,000 km (50,000 miles)
99% Stock

The reason I have no computer controls whatsoever is because I have a Canadian car (obviously I'm from the Great White North). No AIR pump, no closed loop system, just a cat

I"ve already built myself a dual snorkel air cleaner, made my power bulge hood functional (only 1982 LU5's had functional hoods) and now I realize that my carb can also be cheaply upgraded with new rods and hangers.

I hear alot of "CK rods and B hangers". But this is always in regards to CC LG4's and L69's.

Will this application work in my case? I realize I won't be looking at a huge increase in performance, but any little bit will do. I'm also not restricted by emissions controls or regulations, or fuel economy.

Thanks in advance!

Kanuck

BTW, I'm in Winnipeg, in case anyone's wondering.

Somebody responded to my post in the carb section. You can adjust the secondaries on our carbs just like the CC ones. Check out my post there with the same subject line.

I just purchased CK rods and a B hanger from PartSource.

What is a "Partsource" and do they have locations in Canada?

Rochester/AC Delco no longer sell these parts and GM dealers are, for the most part, pretty useless on this as you have to be able to tell them which year, make and model of vehicle used the exact rods you want if you're dealing with a counter clerk who can't cross-reference things or is lazy (quite a few when it comes to tiny parts like this I've found- they find it easier to just say "no longer available").

i do believe Parts Source is a change store (i have seen them advertised on WWR RAW telecasts...or at least they used to advertise). i have not seen to many in Ontario but i think they there may be one in Guelph. so its hard to find rods and hangers in southern ontario? do you have any suggestions where i could find them?

PartSource is owned by Canadian Tire and is a franchise chain. They're just like the automotive section of Cdn Tire but WAAAY more knowledgable and helpful. They stock Motomaster but also more high end name brands. There's a few here in Winnipeg.

PartSource ordered my parts straight from Edelbrock in the US. Cost me $19 CDN for CK rods and a B hanger. A GM dealer quoted me $25 for ONE rod!

hmm 19 bucks doesnt seem too bad a for new rods and hangers, at least compared to the price the deal quoted you. maybe crappy tire can order it for that price too.

Guys, go to a local boneyard and go through all the old GM stuff. Look for bigger, full sized land cruisers from the mid to late 70s and you'll find all the rods and hangers you'll need. I've been able to get about 10-12 sets of rods and hangers this way, all of them for free.

i built mine using the tech article on this site as a guide line. i didnt use hose/duct cause i shortened the snorkels to remove all the THERMAC stuff in the snorkel. it didnt take that long to build....you looking to make one for your cutlass project.
