Ottawa Cars!
Any of the Ottawa guys up for meet sometime?
A few options:
Kanata Hazeldean Mall on Tuesdays - (my first pick)
Rideau Carleton Racetrack on Wednesdays
Merivale & Huntclub on a Friday evening
Here's an event calendar: http://web.ncf.ca/dg300/events.html
I've only been out to a few cruise nights, but haven't seen any familiar faces yet!
Lets hear some suggestions.
Romour has it one of the local F-Body guys has a new Camaro SS. I'd like to see it!

Re: Ottawa Cars!
Wow, the days are flying, just like last summer. My car hasn't moved, I'm running around trying to get things done, pre-occupied. I think Ken's in the same boat, the kids are ripping up the kart tracks, so he's busy too.
Who got the new SS??? Hylton??? John???

thanks for the offer. biggest problem is rats nest of electrical including previous owner eliminating wiring for MAF sensor. Not sure if the car can be set up or reprogrammed to ever run right this way. I'm guessing not. I've replaced all the obvious sensors, adjusted everything and done tuneup but if no MAF is the problem, then ... BTW, i bought it because body, unibody and mechanically, it was solid. I figure i can sort out on the rest.

Re: Ottawa Cars!
WTF..unless it was converted to speed density you need to reinstall all the stuff including the MAF burn-off relay. Otherwise it will just run in 'limp home' mode. I assume your CEL is on with all the MAF codes showing up?
For speed-density you will have a MAP sensor connected to the intake manifold. You'll need a computer from 88+ I think for SD.

Re: Ottawa Cars!
Carburetor guy looks at efi car with no point of reference (like another car) and scratches his head. I'm going to read/look at some articles on maf to map and get back to you. Nothing worse than twenty stupid questions when I can just go read for an hour or two. Supposed to rain tomorrow so good a time as any. A quick look tells me there's a suspicious sensor or two and the ecm has been out and hacked into, I'll keep you posted.
thanks

Re: Ottawa Cars!
Ok I remembered where all the ECM info was.. http://www.fuelinjection.com/ then goto "GM port injection".
Several modifications have been made to the TPI system introduced in 1985. The 1985 system used a GM Part #1226870 ECM and had a Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and a MAFS module to control the power and burnoff functions for the MAFS. In 1986 two relays replaced the MAFS module and the Electronic Control Module (ECM) was changed to a GM part #1227165. In 1989 the cold start injector was deleted from the system. The primary injectors were used for cold starts via a fuel enrichment program in the newer EPROM calibrators. In 1990 GM introduced the speed density system. In essence the MAFS was replaced with a Manifold Air Pressure(MAP) Sensor. This system uses a ECM GM Part #1227727 for the Corvette.
The ECM's provided with the original equipment MPFI systems are indicated below:
Y=Corvette F=Camaro ,Firebird, Trans-AM
Model Year GMpartNo Engine
F,Y 1985 1226870 5.0L/5.7L
F,Y 1986-1989 1227165 5.0L/5.7L
F 1990-1992 1227730 5.0L/5.7L
Y 1990-1991 1227727 5.7L
Y 1992 16159278 5.7L LT1
F 1993 16159278 5.7L LT1

Re: Ottawa Cars!
Well, no id marks on the ecm at all, prom/chip is oem delco remy with part no 16055376. No MAP sensor on the plenum. TPI setup is early one, older style throttle body, plenum, ninth injector. It is a 305 btw, pulled the valve covers and checked on motec. Previous owner (a relative) and not the guy who hacked at it so no source of info thought it was a 5.7 but i had my doubts when i bought it so no surprise when i did check. I'll keep plugging at it.

Re: Ottawa Cars!
Hey Neil, ive been to a couple of the Hazeldean meets and a couple rideau carleton only.
Didnt see your car around.
Mine is in the garage now for a bit of a tear down. Itll be at the cruise nights most every night (hopefully in a few days) with a for sale sign....
Theres actually 2 camaro SS's that ive seen now. Both of them are orange. 1 guy is always at the Hazeldean show, the other car ive just seen on the road.
Hope to get some more show time in this year, but just like everyone else theres lots goin on, and summer is so short you gotta squeeze in alot of plans into a short time.
See you around.

Your 9 bolt is collecting dust in the shop but it's on the list. Aas you can see I'm having fun with the TPI. No CEL, so no codes, everything is guess work.

Yah, Haven't made it to Kanata yet. I'm going to try and go the 20th.
I was at the Merrickville show today. They had I was number 446 or something.. Tons of super cars out. Maybe 5 3rd gens. A good dozen 2nd gens that were very nice. A 1970 Trans Am, and a 1980 Turbo Transam.

Re: Ottawa Cars!
I was there today too. Out by about 3pm, and was gonna spend the rest of the day wrenching but got invited to a dinner.
I will definately be going back there next year, it was a "new' car show experience for me. You got to see the town, and the people, and the cars all in one. Cars appeared to be stuck everywhere, with a strange sense of organization .
Awesome show, perfect weather.

Re: Ottawa Cars!
all the ottawa shows start at 6 and run till dusk.
They usually hold the door prize draw at 8:00pm. Although Hazeldean has switched to a "display" board, and you can check it afterwards too.

I might show up, but not likely.
Ny car isnt ready yet because i threw out my shoulder. I should fire it up tommorow night though just some wiring left.
Ill try to make it to rideau carleton if theres no leaks.
