Ok guys, Im picking with your brains again.
Can you recommend a nice street cam that will wake up my engines performance thats not too crazy that might just use a 2400 stall?
I want the car mainly for pleasure cruising but I want that extra power, something mild.

give some details for the car, tpi, tbi, carb. Plan to use stock heads, how many miles on the bottom end, etc

then some peeps can give you some insight.

For a TPI setup 350 87, I might have 1500 km on the engine, just a stock basic 350 from AcDelco, very plain and boring.
Needs a boost of something.

There are alot of options out there...where do you want the power to be? This will also make a difference of which cam you go with.

Personally i'm going to be running a Comp Cams Extreme Energy 268H. Mind you my engine isnt all that stock.

He's a 87 so a rollor, the 268 isnt, unless he got a flat tappet swapped in.

With stock heads/TPI, i'd go with a XR264HR (08-501-8)from comp cam's, its an actual TPI cam
http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Cu...ML/128-169.asp

The more mod's you do the bigger you can usualy go, TPI's dont like huge cam's though so your kinda limited as long as you stay a LTR set-up.

What do you guys think of these comp cams: 08-422-8, 12-210-2, 08-502-8
I have headers coming soon, might get chips, still debating...

Well the 08-502-8 (XR269HR) you will need to get new springs for your heads, too much lift.

The 08-422-8 (XR270HR) is basicaly the same cam as above but more for carb car's.

The 12-210-2 (268H) is a Flat tappet cam and more for carb car's.

Look more at the chart and you will see it actualy say's for TPI on cam's like 08-501-8 (XR264HR) or 08-302-8 (264HR-12)

Watch the lift lvl's or you'll start snapping the stock springs.

Problem is I have no idea about my engine specs and AcDelco cannot help me with this info either since its a discontinued item.
They tell me to call a local GM dealership to try and find out therefore its difficult finding a cam that suits me best without damaging anything.
All I know this is a reman engine stock 350 vin"8" AcDelco part # 12465201

If you really wanna run the XR269HR-12, then D's89IrocZ has the part number for some Springs that are suposed to be good upto a .570 lift that mount in the stock seat's.

I'll send him this link if ya want them.

Or measure the spring pressure of the springs that you have. I saw a tool to do it while I was in the US although I don't know of anybody up here that has it and it was a little pricey. Other option is to take off one of the heads and take it to a good engine shop and have them give you the specs of the springs. They will test them for you. I would sooner take the head off now and be safe then take the head off when you are rebuilding your new engine because one of the springs didn't hold up.

I would say that your springs are rated at just under .500 lift currently but that is just a guess without doing one of the two steps above

then I bet its stock springs with a stock cam so they'll take stock lift, AKA under .500

Sd1007 springs from Scoggin Dickies Performance parts . 1.2" = 350lbs and 1.8" they are 120 lbs. good for .570 lift. and stock spring diameter.

But please contact them and ask them . I am running them on my ZZ4 camshaft in a stock headed L-98 .
