friggin' police following me for 5 minutes on the way home...

So... I'm driving home from the meet and decide I wanna get some gas for my car. I am driving by a school, it's about 12:45 at night. Suddenly I see a cop on the road in the opposing lane coming toward me. I pass him, he passes me... then I look in my rearview mirror and I see him pulling a U-Turn. I look at my speedo, I'm only doing 42 km, it's a 40 zone, so I figure he ain't going to pull me over for speeding, phew!

I decide to turn left at the stop sign. He stays back quite a distance, but as soon as I turn left, he proceeds to turn left as well, keeping the distance.

Next stop sign, I decide to turn left. I turn left, drive a good distance down the street, look in my rearview mirror, see him stop at the stopsign, edge up a bit so he can see me, then turn left and follow me.

This proceeds for literally 5 minutes, (which is pretty long when you know the cop is following you). I'm pretty sure he ran my plates or something.

Anyway, dam those cops! hehe

Welcome to the club, dude. It goes part and parcel with owning anything that even looks fast. Just something you have to get used to.

Yeah.. I had a cop follow me in Niagara Fall slast night... but I think he had a reason, he may have seen me pass a bus and limo that were in opposite lanes going the exact same speed of 40km/h in a 50 (4lane two way on lundy's lane).... and YES easyspeed... it feels like freaking hours when they follow you!!!! Still no tickets in the Trans AM, YET!! LOL... only time.. I've slid my way out of a couple this summer.. phew

It was a follow up to easyspeeds post and I was referring to certain conduct of the York Regional Police which I have observed personally although I don't think easyspeed resides in the Regional Municipality of York and the Toronto cops are a bit more professional than the York Regionals.

While we're on the subject I know people that we're smacked out real good by the local snout for nothin at all and then dropped off out in the side-roads like in January so they could walk back to Stouffville and freshen up a bit on the way.

Axle/Gears: Yup -- they still work
ask them why

Last time I was followed (April/2002) I didn't wait to be pulled over instead I pulled over got out and when he pulled in behind with his cruiser I asked the cop why he was following me ? Not confrontational just figured why wait until he pulls me over I figure I GOT NOTHING TO HIDE and put it too him.

I've never had any serious trouble I think it depends on how you approach the cop ?

Oh yeah EasySpeed GOOD FOR YOU for the 40kms in a school zone (even if it was at night). Those of us with kids always, always appreciate it !

my .02 cents worth,
RP.

Hmm... I must be lucky, I haven't been pulled over once in either of my vehicles. I have let the bird stretch it's wings on occasion on the QEW...

Actually I don't think I've ever even been followed. That's what happens when you go from home to work and back and little else.

I have to agree. Time never passes more slowly than when you've got a cop right behind you. Whether you're driving a econo-box or a sports car time slows to a crawl.

I suspect I'll get a bit more of the following when I get my GTA up and running, but for now my Escort is pretty unasuming. Actually cops have little reason to follow that tiny car around. ^_^ 88hp and 2,600lbs to push around. I'm not going anywhere fast.

Last week I got followed by the cops. It was intense. Like a 15 minute encounter! There was a huge 90 degree corner mixed in the fun too. It mustve been bumper to bumper atleast 95% of the time!

Then I got my timbits and ice cap and got the hell away from tim hortons drive through

but seriously... heres the way I would rate how big of a heat score you are out of 10...

under 25yrs old - 2 pts
aftermarket exhaust - 1.5pts
loud stereo (subs) - 1.5 pts
fast car, or even a car that looks fast (like they cant tell the damn difference ) - 2 pts
rims - .5 pt
lowered (or a stock lowered looking car, like some thirdgens with gfx) - .5 pt
tint - 1 pt (man some cops are dicks about the tint laws...)
driving at night - 1 pt

alex you got it lucky. Every time I get followed I try to take a side street to see if they are really following me and I always get the cherries. Anyone ever get that drug test with the flashlight? Thats complete bs... Theres a cop here notorious for doing that test on each person in the car for like half a second then accusing everyone of being doped up and tries to convince you to forfeit your drugs and alc. Just keep saying no regardless, and he hands back your license and papers and says have a nice night lol. hes a nutcase with a badge...

Heh, don't I know that! I actually used Motorcity online to try and model some cars and horsepower statistics! Unsurprisingly it was pretty accurate! I took a 73 firebird formula and dropped a 350 chevy sb at 240hp@4,600rpm and 342lbs/ft@3300rpm and did a few drags with it. I was running anywhere from 14's to 15's with it! Pretty close to what it was in RL.

Then I took the lightest car in the game(a 32 ford coupe) and dropped a 88hp motor in it that matched the numbers from the factory and matched the gearing on it. Well I'll be, really close to the actual tests at the factory again! Too bad it took that car about 20 to 21 seconds @ 70mph to do the quarter mile! Which is about what my Escort will run. Very sad car there.

MCO isn't perfect, but it makes a surprisingly good estimate of what a car needs to run at a certain time. As long as you know what you need to match up.

Further testing with MCO revealed that its usually within .5 seconds of the real thing when dragging. You can also use pretty much any car as long as its within the approximate weight! But it only works for drags because the handling statistics are different for each car and vary too much to nail down a certain time for a specific setup.
