Car troubles, scared me!

Hey all

I went out to grab a bite with my gf and stuff.. and so I pull into the parking lot and as soon as I go to park my hood was covered in white smoke all coming out of my engine bay, I start to panic.. I open the door, I see a HUGE trail of engine coolent leading to my car, man it was a lake!!

So I open my hood, check everything... no leaky hoses or anything!! So here I was stuck in brantford.. so I called CAA and my gfs dad came out and we filled the rad up with water to see where the leak was coming, mannnn there was a solid leak right from underneeth the bottom rad hose where is bends down I was like $@)&$# how couldent I see that!!

So now my car is at my mechanics agian... I left him a note praying for him to fix this for me tommorw, if not ill give it a shot my self, dosent look hard to fix that.

anywaysssssss..
what a crappy night in my eyes!

Is it just your hose is cracked? Underneath where it bends down? It has to be your hose. I doubt it's your waterpump, but I have broken the lower nipple on a rad before. If it's the rad, most times it can be welded. If it's the hose, good, easy fix. If it IS the water pump neck, whether cracked or something, well then, that sucks.

If it's a AC Delco OEM rad than they are notorious for cracking right in the spot you described. Dave, what ever you do, don't pay an arm and a leg to have someone do the work for you. Unless the price is cheap, get the car to your house and I can help you fix it on Sunday. It's an easy job. And be careful, make sure you get the right rad. We did my buddy's about a month ago and the first rad he got was only a 2 core. You want no less than 3 core.

My rad was rusted out on my beater when it snapped in that location. There was enough "GOOD METAL" that the shop could weld it up for me.

Mine exploded. Left a nice ding in my hood where it impacted the cap. Get a 3 core rad. If it's hose only, just replace it yourself, not a big deal.

well I got it fixed
It cost me 86 dollars with tax and everything..
I got the new hose and a oil change..
The hose was 20 bux and the oil change was 20 bux.. im guessing the rest was laybour and tax.
I called Parts Source to see how much a hose was, it was 18 bux.. so he didnt jib me on it.

wow did you get hosed...

86 bucks to replace a hose and change the oil?? hose replacement and oil changes are basic, you could have saved yourself 50 bucks.

It's not on the highway you appreciate a 3 core.. its stuck in traffic crappy hot 30+ super humidity days that you're glad you didn't have a 2 core...

note you bought an aluminum rad too.. much better at getting rid of heat...
