Radar Detectors
hey guys when my old man was down in north carolina woring he picke dme up a radar detector......i havent used it yet cuzz i know there illegal in ontario but do cops have any way of knowing im using one other then if they c it?.....it's a whistler 1710....i jsut wanan know how accurate these are and if they work very good.....also would they wokr jsut as good in ontario as in the states?....any of you guys syue them?

one of the guys in the local f-body club has a radar detector, he fabricated a power plug just below the headlight console, the plug looks like a headphone plug. So if he ever gets pulled over, he just unplugs it and shoves under the seat or soemthing.

hey
yeah the detector that i got just plugs into your cigarette lighter......but what im sayin is do the cops have any type of detection thigns themselves in there cars to catch me using one?....do they work efficently or no?.......how good do they work?

The poilice do have radar detector detectors, as for putting it under the seat, you are better off to put it in your pocket because they have reaasonable grounds to search your car but not you. They are almost useless in Niagara Region because we now have laser technology

laser technology only works when they are on the side of the road. It will not work when the cops are moving. there are also detectors for laser. But laser is line of site so if it goes off they already can see you and it will likly be to late.
As for your first question Yes they have detectors for yours. NO they dont all have them. But if you use it, it will be at your own risk so be careful.
If you have ever used one before you will find that they are not much good in the cities and on majore highways like the 401. you will find that it goes off all the time because of all kinds of things.(cell phones, cell towers even power lines and transformers). you will find that they work the best on small highways away from built up areas .
Also keep in mind that the cops can also turn their radar on only when they see you. so your detector would not help much then.
