On the '85 bridgestones gave me WAY more traction than goodyears. I never looked into any stickier tire, because mine were hooking very well (2.0 60' with a 305).
On the '98 things will get interesting. I may need to run drag radials to hook after I get my converter. I would probably run Nittos due to longer life than BFG's. I almost bought a set of Mickey ET streets on rims. If I were looking for a strip only tire, this would be my choice.

I run Pep Boys Futuras (265/50/15) on the track and street. Cut 2.0 60's on them. Any more throttle and they'd go up in smoke.

I got Goodyear M+S snows on the rear... some sort of performance rain tire on the front... 215/60/R16's all around... The snows spin all the way through first.
I'm planning on 235/55's front, 255/50's rear this summer... probably Khumo Ecsta 712's... I hear they're real sticky in warm weather.

Cordovan Grand prix front and rear. 235/60/15 front 255/60/15 rear. they seem to hook pretty well even though they're only $65 a piece. I already burned through a set of 245s on the rear though.

I cant believe you are able to run such a cheap tire! How do you get traction? or do you? I'd bet a set of D/R's out back would get ya a MAJOR improvement in those 60 footers. Then again 302's arent as torquey, but still. Whats the trick to running cheap tires?

A 50,000 mile warranty and a 3 gear burnout As soon as I get this wimpy 7.5" rear out and an 8.8" in next month I'm going to toss on a set of BFG Drag Radials, but til then it's part throttle in first gear for me.

I use 235/60R15 Kelly Chargers up front and 255/60R15 Kelly Chargers on the rear. these tires have rasied white lettering, which i like, and they are all mounted on 15x7 American Racing Outlaw II rims.

No one here has stranger tires than I do.
As posted above they will be replaced soon, but the tires on my '98 are NANKANG's. I guess the dealer just put cheapies on to replace worn ones because they are brand new.
NANKANG's LOL but they hook pretty good all things considered

Michelin Pilot Sport XGTZ4s (275/40ZR17s) at all 4 corners on the Vette. Run them at the track and the street (best 60ft = 1.9). they have lasted me over 3 years and still have good tread life left. these things will dry rot before i run out of tread. the Z came with cheap Goodyear Wingfoots. once as i burn off all the tread, im replacing those with Michelins also.

I run v-rated Pirelli on my car. They are 225/60R15. A little narrow but that is all they had and I couldn't wait a week for the BF Goodrich z-rated ones to come in. Doesn't matter next time it is time to replace the tires I will be getting new rims. These tires are really sticky though and give some good launches. Better than with completely bald tires

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S all the way around. Could only get a 2.26 60' time but they were only on the car 2 days when I hit the track, so hopefully that will get better. I was getting 2.0x 60' times with the worn out Bridgestone Potenza RE910's the week before. Those were supposed to be 65,000 mile tires, try 20,000

Just ordered some 245/50-16 Goodyear Eagle GS-C's from SLP. Killer deal, they're 99.75 a piece, nearly brand new(like less than 10 miles on them), and still carry the manufacturer's warranty. I think that's sweet seeing as they run around 140$-160$ new.

Firestone Firehawks 245/50/16 very sticky until you start making some awesome torque and put some gears in. If I had any traction devices at all, I think they could hook fairly well under half throttle. They last a very long time also.

I run Falken ZE-502 245/45/R17s. They hook all right towards the end of first, and recently I have a slight chirp in second shifitng at 5400. I used to have Goodyear Eagles in 225/60/R15 and they sucked. They had no life to them and the dry traction was bad. They were better in the rain than the Falkens, and were more comfortable.
My dads Mustang has Toyo Proxes in 225/55/R16 on the street and he can't hook till 3rd, and Hoosier 26x9 slicks at the track. He has gone 1.89 before, but he really doesn't launch the car above 3500.
Both me and him will be getting BFGoodrich Drag Radials. He wants 255/50/16s and I'm getting some 275/40/17s. They look to be the best all around and they are reasonably priced.

You want a good tire get a set of 245/50/16s made by multi mile. There caled grand spirit aqua flows. They have 2 grooves in them for rain and these tires stick. I had a set of potenzas and some goodyears that i melted off. I can very rarely get these to spin. They are also directional tires. They cost about 600 a set here but i paid 350 because i work in a place that sells them.

Anyone ever hear of viper tires, thats what i have in the back 245/50/16 and BF Goodrich in the front. I want to get the viper tires for the front but i cant find them anywhere? Maybe there not even that good of a tire?

A guy wrote into a Mustang Magazine and said he had aqua flows and they sucked. I had never heard of them until that day. Are they like a drag radial or a street radial.

I've got Dean Stinger, 245/50/16. Came with the car, maybe you've heard of em? I recommend them, great in wet weather, theyre alright in snowy weather, but don't go out in that weather. Great on normal conditions. They wear nicely, look good.

I am upgrading to 17" Cobra rims so now i need some 245/45/17's. I've heard good things about the Kumho Supra Excsta 712's so i am giving them a try. $100 a tire from www.tirerack.com for 17" tires...you can't beat that! The Pirelli P7000's i have now are $180 a tire in 17"s...so i'll run the cheaper tire since i need to get 4.

I just put 17" SS rims on my car yesterday. Went from 225/60R15 Daytona HR to :hail: 275/40ZR17 Kumho Ecstas. Used to be that I would get some wheelspin on hard launches. Now I'm looking at clutch slip. Me thinks a new clutch was in order anyway, so that's not a biggie, but these tires are extremely sticky. I finally managed to break the rear end just a little loose today while flooring it through a sharp corner at about 4000 rpm in 2nd gear. It was that manageable kind of oversteer that puts a big grin on your face :rockon:. Had I done this on the old tires, the car would have been wrapped like a pretzel around that utility pole coming out of the corner. Any understeer that I had has also competely disappeared. My baby handles like a dream now

I got 245/50R16 on the iroc all the way around. I haven't done the 1/4 yet since I only have the car a few weeks and I just found out I need a tranny rebuilt. Hopefully I take it down to englishtown, NJ this year and see what she runs.
