Bonnville SSEI vs. 305 TBI Camaro

hey guys just wanted your opinions on this race. My friend wants to race me in his auto 92 Bonneville SSEI 3.8 Supercharged all stock. I have a auto 88 Camaro 305 TBI catback, and open KN. Do you think he will wax me or will it be a good race?

thanks

I have a 1993 bonnevile, its not supercharged but it still has some pick up. The SSEI's are no joke, i think you need a few more mods until you can realy give him a run for his money. I know the newer SSEI's run mid 15's, hope that helps! But i would just go ahead and race him anyway, nothing really to lose. Good luck!

If it runs mid 15s and he's a good driver, I'd say he's got you.

the GTP has the same motor, and it runs high 14s stock. figuring the bonneville weighs quite a bit more, youll probably see low - mid 15s. the hp and torque ratings hae remained unchaged since 92' : 240/280. a TBI with cat backand a filter will go low 16s (i hear they arent geared very well).

I just got a '94 SSEI and I'm not sure, are you stock also? If so sorry! They are rated at 205hp and I think thats low. I have not gotten a chance to toy with anyone yet. Maybe I'll have my wife race me in my Iroc and let you know.

The SSEI will take you. No shame in that though. That motor is pretty good. The new 3.8's are some of the best engines available today, especially in a light car. Even the ones w/o a charger are pretty peppy.
