Me vs. a 1979 Z28
This guy at my school has a 1979 Z28. These cars have 350's that make 175 hp and about 270 lb. ft. of torque. They also have 3.73's. My car is in the signature: V8 5sp RS with minor mods. Who would win?

99% of cars made in the 70s are absolute turds. Add to the fact that he probably doesnt know how to tune his camaro, and most of the parts are probably original. Saying this, i think yu have a good chance of beating him. Your car ran high-mid 16s stock, and with your mods, youre probably running close to 16.0. Im not sure what those cars ran, but it should be a close race. If he has no mods, you should win.

There is a guy around here, with LO3, cowl hood, open element, shift kit, everything else stock ran a 15.5. I would say if you can dip into the 15s you got him. As long as his car is stock.

my buddy used to have a 1978 Z28 with a 350, M-21 or M-22 trans, 3.73's and no mods but an open emement. his car had some ***** off the line, but after 60 mph, it died. we never raced, but if we did, i think i could have edged him out by about 3/4-1 car length.

I know the car curt was talking about. It had some seriously good lowend, but like curt said on top it was nothing too spectacular. One main problem with the second gens(i speak from experience) is they have bad off the line traction. I have traction bars on my 76 and it still spins the 275 tires. if you can get some good traction then I would favor you in the race. hope this helps.

If he has the auto, then you have a define gearing advantage. Even with 3.73's a TH350's first gear is pretty deep. T5's or 700r4's have the advantage...so it would take less hp to win. My buddy with a 77 olds 403 T/A raced me, I win every time, but I think he would take a L03 without too much trouble. Take away 53 cubic inches and I think you have a chance. Line up and tell us what happens!!
