Tires????????

the best trade off is the BFG drag radial, it grabs the best and last the longest of a race type tire, probley get about 7,000 miles out of them if you take it easy, otherwise go with the absolutle fattest tire you can get under the wheel well, also go with a 15" rim, they will be you a little better traction then a 16 or 17"

The longest lasting sticky tire you can get is a Nitto drag radial, they'll last anywhere from 10,000 - 15,000 miles if you don't abuse them too badly. I've cut 1.9 60' times on these with an automatic transmission.
On the street I run Pep Boys Futura's 265/50/15. I've cut 2.0 60's on these and have seen 5 speed guys cut low 1.80's. They hook a lot better than the 295 series Firehawk SS I use to have on the car.
Up front I run 165 series Lemans tires. They're not the greatest quality tire in the world, but if you keep them aired up properly they're not too bad. At $29 a piece you really can't beat the price.

I run Pirelli P7000 Supersports on my car. 245/50/16's
They are Z-rated and hook very well in the dry and hook EXTREMELY well in the wet weather. I had a friend who had these on his car and praised them for their wet weather ability...which is why i bought them. There performance in the dry exceeed the BFG's and the Goodyear Eagles I had on there before

i am a big fan of the yokohama avs intermediate. i cut 2.0 60's on a road racing set up with these tires, got about 12,000 miles out of each set and they only cost like $105 each. they are also excellant in rain and snow.

I currently have Michelin Pilot Sport XGT Z4s on my Vette. They are Z speed rated, and have been on the car for over 3 years. ive never had the car aligned, and the tread wear is perfect. I still probably have about a year or so left on these tires, they'll probably dry rot before the tread wears out completely. Oh, yeah, i run these at the track with 25 PSI and get 1.9 60 fts out of them.

I've got the BF Goodrich G-Force T/A's. They have excellent traction, and tread pattern. Just one useful tip, if you like traction get this exact model: the KD's not the K's or the KDW's. Just trust me.

I've used the Yokohama's myself and they seem the best for an all around tire. When I made my 12.42 pass I had them on. Got a 1.76 short time and almost lifted the front wheels off the ground. These tires are H-rated so the side walls are softer than Z-rated tirets which made them like slicks that have soft sidewalls. They were also cheap. I got about 25K miles out of them.

I use Mickey Thompson Sportsman "I" tired in the back. These have the I shaped treads, really close together. They hook so good that with bad shocks, i popped the front tires off the ground more than once. I had them on the car for about 10,000 miles now and I still have about a couple thousand miles left. They're not that good in the snow tho!
