Last night on my way home from work I was at an unusually long stop light. The next thing I know this guy and his chick pull up next to me in a miata. So I look over, he doesn't, I just figured he didn't wanna race with his girl in the car. All of a sudden he takes off, caught me totally off guard, well naturally I had it in first just in case and took off. He got a good car length on me before I even hit it but I soon caught up and pulled about 4-5 cars ahead till the next stoplight. He didn't wanna go after that.

Just curious...why did you think he would race you in the first place? Miatas arent known for their straight line capabilities. They really shine on a road coarse where its probably even better than a 3rd gen f-body. So they arent really POS's.

 

Well, for one, LincolnHawk you jack@ss(j/k, no really I am), I have an auto soon to be a 5 speed and 2 I figured since his girl was in the car I thought he might like to show me up, I knew I would beat him either way and besides, he started it
Oh yeah, and I know that miatas aren't POS's, but have you seen that company that puts the 5.0 mustang engines in them, man would I have looked silly if it had been one of them.

 

It kinda sound like it was just another fast driver to me. You can think someones racing you when really thats how they drive.

I have seen that company that puts the 302's in the miatas and they will smoke just about anything they race. (cause of the weight/handling capability of the miata) There is a guy in Austin with one of these monster miatas: it has over 300 hp and is way faster than almost every modified corvette,camaro, firebird, and pos rustang. Trust me, I have seen it in action, this thing comes of the line like a nuclear guided missile aimed at osama bin laden.

Yes there is a such thing as a 5.0 Miata, and they're quick. I've also got street race video of a white miata having it out with an LS1 T/A and being dead even the whole race (SC'ed 4-cyl). But it was probably just a guy showing off his chick-car in front of his woman and getting toasted. In the words of Nelson from "The Simpsons" ~HA HA~

 

I started to race a turbo miata, had him off the line.. I heard the turbo spool up and then BOV when he shifted... It was all over... I wasn't even going to try after that...

 

If any of you remember...

I got taken by a supercharged miata (I didnt know it was s/c until I heard it spinning). It would have been a close race but he got a jump on me. After we raced I talked to the guy and he said it was a Jackson supercharger. From the race I would guess that it ran mid 14's. Not too fast, but when they catch you off guard...

It is by far my most embarassing loss

My Girlfriend has a 00' miata. It's a solid 15 sec car. I waste L03's with it all the time. It is a road course car, by far. Hella fun.
