tired of the 5.0 bull ****
today i was sitting at my house messing with my car(carbed 89 iroc) and i live next to a speed shop in webb city missouri, which os home to missouri mustang, and i get my carb adjusted and the bugs worked out(my car has only been running for 3 days) and a guy come up and suggests i should have bought a stang... After i laughed and called him a few choice words we lined them up( my house on a dead end road where there is no traffic) i spanked his capri and went along my business... Im sick of hearing this 5.0 and 4.6 b.s... This winter im going to start my 377 stroker build and im gonna get it known that mustangs are bunk ******* pieces of... Well to be quite frank... ****. Next summer 2013, i want all the 1st, 2nd, 3rd,4th,5th gen camaros to spank a stang and post it... I dont know if all your guys areas are over run with beater fox bodies or mudular cobras or these (cant hang with ls) mustangs that are of the now.... But lets please be proud of what we got our cars are rare, sexy and, fun so please post you spanked a stang story please!

Did you tell him to put up or shut up before running him? If he was that cocky, he shoulda been eager to "take your money". lol

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
haha i should have im not saying these stangs are not fast im just saying im sick of seeing them! Its rare to see a camaro( iroc especially) that will run with them let alone spank em... I was born the same year as my car 89, 22 years now and ive had a chip on my shoulder towards stangs since i can remember... I have big plans for my car and when its done i cant wait for the next douche bag to mouth off... My car as of now runs 13.73s and doesnt hook up what so ever... Cant wait till shes all lined out and done! Alot of people will think im dumb and im just a punk kid... I recently graduated from school and want to own my own speed shop! I will be a chevy guy for life and want to hear more stories like mine to keep me pumped up!

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
Most of the Mustangs and Mustang guys round my side of town are cool. Some can be cocky though. One guy in a 97 GT 4.6 got cocky when me and my dad were driving around in his Custom 400hp Dodge Magnum R/T. We let him hit the gas for a little while and then we nailed it, cought up, and passed him pretty quick. We never even turned the air con off (and it was blowing full blast). I think we may have had some groceries in the back too.

I used to just ask how my tail lights look after the spankings. Just a smirk on top of that and the excuses started or the walked away sad face.

i'm pretty sure it's illegal to be cocky in a 97 mustang gt.

My dad raced an 05 GT when he was in the car alone. Killed him 3 times. Let him nail it, then he floored it, cought up, and passed him. Repeated as necissary (in this case it was 3 times in a row).

Well he's got the 5.7L Hemi, and that year they put out 340fwhp. The car has exhaust, a chip tune, and a functional shaker hood cold air intake with a K&N filter (I think the car has aluminium heads but I'm not sure). He's beat a Subi STI with 3 people in the car, and kept up with a 2007 BMW M6 with a basket ball player driving (Guy probably had it in its 400hp economy mode).

I cannot wait to get a coupe drop drop a 6.0 into, will be a blast. The little 302 just needs help, a 347 stroker kit and AFR heads and it will get down.

,My wife has the same car with the same mods.I dont believe the claims that the intake, handheld tuners, and exhaust people make about horsepower gains.Im thinking my ex's car has about 360 or so.IF your dads car has aftermarket aluminum heads then he might be close. The trans in those cars(NAG1)suck alot of power out of them.A normal dyno on a stock LX is around 260 to 270.Thats almost 100 horse lol.

Lol reminds me of a kid I saw at a gas station in a crown vic a few months ago. He pulls by me and out the window says: "How does it feel to know my car is twice as fast as yours"
My friend and I almost died laughing... I thought he was joking (not being cocky, but seriously you are in a crown vic with horrible rims and an exhaust)
He then proceeded to floor it, and get a little squeek out of ONE tire, and drove off.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
I would hope so, your average stang is 4-600 pounds lighter than our buckets, that is a advantage from the start, not to mention, the 302 was common 4 inch bore vs the lowly TBI 305. Lol

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
The new gt500's are 300-400 pounds heavier than thirdgens and simple blower upgrades can make 550-700 whp plus. New 5.0's are not feather weights either. The cars with bolt ons and tune will make well over 400whp, and run 11's with tires at 120's plus mph. Just sick
Most fbodies are 3400-3500 with average 160-180 lb driver on drag wheels. Some less some more. Not overly heavy

Yah. We're a heck of allot lighter than the new bread of cars. With a proper engine swap 3200 isn't hard (Lots of Aluminium of course).

I've always wanted to put a 283 (3" stroke) crank in a 327 (4" bore) block.....That gives you a 301. Bore it 30 over & you get a 304.6 So when you beat them you can HONESTLY say that is a "305 cubic inch engine"!

Oh man, that would probably be ok, but you need to remember the extra rpm it needs as the less torque it would not be generating. Great for high rpm though.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
The new 5.0 is just like the 80s, they are 4-500 pounds lighter than the new camaro. So I am not impressed with them. I dot hate them, I am glad they finally made a real engine since the 302 died in 95. Pretty funny all the ford guys parading the current stangs, which is fine, just like the other thread I point out the smaller 302 spins 1000 more rpm making neary the same power as 6.2, just stating the obvious and some get offensive. The zl1, same thing, the gt500 spins more as well with the larger engine, nothing a few mods cannot fix, but the GD camaro is still a fatass. Lol. Till they lighten it up, it is still goin to e looking at tails in the straight line, but it has it in the corners.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
It runs hard for 302 cubes, but back before the modular engines and LS, the hardest running stangs had to have cam and other parts, they would rev to 7 and ran well, the new 5 liter camless hits that, and has enough tech in it to shun the old 5.0. They have my respect but impressed? They are where they should be I think.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
How can you say the new 5.0 doesnt impress??? Have you seen what they can do with just a air intake and an aggressive tune? Let alone headers/exhaust? Variable valve timing from the cams, they respond extremely well.
They are doing 420-430whp with basic bolt ons and dyno 370's stock. Thats pretty darnn impressive. With few lbs of boost on a stock motor they easilly get up over 500whp. This motor is just as good as the LS1

Same here, I strongly dislike the 5th gen camaros. I've been in them and dont like them. I could never own one. Powertrain is nice but thats all they got. New mustang I've also been in and I like the look and feel inside. Never driven them but raced them many times in my TA and they are quick for what they are.
~ 302" and over 400whp with bolt ons/tune is getting it done no matter how you slice it.
I am a fan of the challenger now that they have 6 spds available but the motors arent very strong. My friends friend has a stage 3 Mr. Norms Challenger that supposively made 900whp with a kenne bell type blower but it only ran 10.8's at 130 down here in texas on 20" nitto NT05R's. Impressive still but not a 900whp car. But I'd rock it with the mods it has on it before any 5th gen

Impressive still but not a 900whp car. But I'd rock it with the mods it has on it before any 5th gen

Honestly, it is better than the ls1, the gen III is great but the hen IV is better, the current 4.8 makes as much as the old 5.3 did. I would be let down if it did not perform the way the 5.0 does. How long have they been making modulars with 3 and 4 valves per cylinder? Long enough to produce the power they finally are. Satisfied, that's what I would say.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
The challenger is a turd. The camaro was heavy enough, but dodge has it beat. Hate the way the side has that big empty area next to the quarter. The people have spoken and the camaro is sex. Huge sales and the highest resale value amongst the auto world. I would daily drive one of I wanted another expensive car note. They ride better than the stang and handle better as well. Something that is more important for me as a daily driver. The new mustang look is growing on me a bit but I likens the sharper edges of the 05 body with the body kits. The current without a body modification is just too rounded in corners for my liking.

I agree its about time they did something in those cars. I ran a "built" 3v valve at HMP one night..i line up and he starts purging nitrous....didnt mention that to me but we ran and my traction advantage on drag radials pulled 3-4 cars on him in the 1/8 mile...i wasnt impressed but he probably couldnt drive it on street tires....
But its been years with them playing with 4.6's and not making alot of power, except for the big blower cars. My buddy's 4.6 with stage 2 cams and bunch of bolt ons n/a was still a mid high 12 second car My TA with bolt ons ran low 12's. Just the way it is.
Finally they have a motor that can get the job done. Maybe its the variable cam timing this time that really wakes them up but they did something with the heads/chambers to get this motor to make some power. They even respond well to boost and are holding power...unlike the old mod motors that were risky pushing 450whp.... now they are up over 600 and doing ok it seems
Thats competing with gen IV GM motors...mod for mod they are doing good power with over 1 liters worth less cubes.

Re: tired of the 5.0 bull ****
Seen the 6.2 at 700 rwhp, cam and blown. They will make more power than the stang and have room for improvement, I think the 302 is limited, especially for a while. The heads on it are unlike anything the aftermarket has produced in all it's years for the 4.6 that I know of. Pretty cool on one aspect, no heads needed, but limited on room to grow. GM still holding the low build cost. 1 cam > 3 or 4, they make 3 and 4 valve heads for sbc and Ls the only use 1 original placed cam. That sure is allot less BS than ford. Gm just needs to go with it.

They already have one 5.0 over 900whp i do believe. Id have to look it up but they can hold power easily
Edit: i think they have seen over 700whp on stock bottom and the boss 302 has seen over 1000 but it is a factory forged motor

Hell, cast 4.8 have seen over 1000, lol. Making that much all motor is the issue of needing a forged lower end.
