heh, ok i got beat by my girls 240sx, i got a 92 camaro RS 305 tbi, well this is when i had a broken tran mount, and i still hadnt grasped the concept of automatic racing, shes a manual, do you think i could beat her now that thats replaced? and i learned how to get better gear shifting, well starting to atleast... oh yah, she thinks my car only tops out at 120 because "thats as far as my speedometer goes" heh, thats pretty funny.

 

Kind of rough way of referring to you girl there. hehhe. Could of been worse. Could have said "my stupid bitch". Then of course, we might not hear from you again.

 

What year 240?

 

You should be able to run and hide from that damn car!!! 0-60 stock on your car is 7.9, her's is 9.1-9.3, depending on what period road tests you read...

i really hate to burst your bubble there,but although you will beat her in a street race,she will get you on the top end most likely,atleast when your governer stops you dead at 110.that is unless you have a chip in your car that takes out the governer,and hers will even make it up that high without having all of the grains of rice its made of fall off!

Fixing the tranny mount won't really gain you enough speed to win a rematch, sorry dude, I'm speaking from experience. And you have a limiter that kicks in at 115 MPH, plus you can't go WOT in 4th gear. So you unless your speedo is reading wrong or you cut the wire, or maybe get different size tires to change the gearing effect your not gonna hit 120. Don't take this the wrong way though, I have the same engine and tranny you do.

well if she only beats you because she takes off quicker from the stop... a repaired tranny mount might help you launch quicker. but thats about it.
if that 240 still pulls away after the take-off, you probably wont have any more of a chance.

the 305 rs isnt a 7.90-60 more like 8.6 if hers is 9.1 like that guy said ull take her, if u realy wanna make sure u beat her mod up the car some, get a 3inch cat back exhaust, k & n filter, and some gears 3.42s or 3.73s then youll walk ova her in a street race

 

First of all, I have a 92 Camaro RS too. It takes 4-ever to get up to speed. I would say the 8.6 is probably more accurate 60 foot time. If you were like me when your tranny mount broke, you babied the hell out of it. Because a $10 mount is a hellova lot better than a $600 tranny rebuild. You might get her on the take off now, that you wont be worried about it breaking.

 

She can't be that "retarded" if she beat you. The 240 SX is the Japanese-version of the Camaro. Fix your transmission mount, get some headers, a cat-back exhaust, underdrive pulleys, a chip, a shift kit and a 3.73:1 gearset and posi. If she beats you again, hang up your keys and take the bus.

 

its a 92, and i think for the years around 90 or whatever there was no turbo option for the import (atleast thats what she says) well, i have to say when the tranny busted, i was hoping for a needed tranny rebuild =) so i gunned it anyways, i wanted a new one...heh i KNOW it sounds stupid, but hey, i cant help being just as retarded, and even a cop says ill go over 130, all the stock table for our cars say a rs 305 goes over that, atleast my distorded concept of memory repeats this to me, maybe im delusional, well also when i got my tranny busted, it reaaaaallly did kill my off the line, cause i think my tranny shifted around, cause it would thump for a while and then hit, and now it just hits hard and puts me into gear, so i hope ill beat her...shes still got a bit of an advantage with a 5speed vs automatic, ive been training my use of the gas at beginning of gears, with varied success. heh thanks for the confidence guys, im gonna go take her out tomorrow night and beat her *** , or put a molotov in my gas tank and just buy a geo storm with the insurance claim. heh 130 horsepower yeaaah.

 

Hate to tell you guys, but a 3/90 Motor Trned test of a '91 RS 305 TBI against a '90 Mustang 5.0 LX shows the RS as going 0-60 in 7.9 sec. I also have an '88 Hot Rod test of a Camaro Sport Coupe and a Firebird Formula, and the L03 in that car did 0-60 in only 7.5

Jason E the Motor Trend test you are refering of '91 305 TBI is equipped with a 5 speed manual, he has an automatic. RS with automatic is a 8.6 sec 0-60 NOT 7.9 sec like the manually equipped. I have the magazine too with the LX blowing the living doors off the RS. There is a difference between 170 horspower in the RS to 225 horsepower in the Mustang LX. They should have utilized a 5.0 Z28 stick as a contender. But I bet Ford made some great contribution to Motor Trend then to make Chevy look bad!!
