115+++ I have no idea but I think I hit 115 at 4k maybe. Then pushed it to 5800. I was flying. BTW no speed limiter so dont say I couldnt have did it. I switched to HEI and carb so I dont have a rev limiter either until I get a MSD box.
Mods are in sig with 2.73 gears. and 700r4 in third without lockup.

about the same thing as TEXASLT1 150-160 ![Cool](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/cool.gif)
It was pretty scary and I try not to do it too often !
All I could hear was wind hitting the car and the noise and the body roll too was damn scary![EEK!](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
those 2.73 do go fast you know![Big Grin](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
For all of you that are speeding like that, please, but please do it alone, you don't want your friends to die and be yourself responsible for it
On the other hand, if you're willing to do it by yourself, that's ok with me, have fun

115-120 racing a Porsche. My car was a stock AOD and had not one mod and 2.73 gears at the time. It had a lot left but there was traffic ahead. The Porsche jumped into the breakdown lane and that was the last we saw of him!
After that, 105-110 whatever I am doing after I cross the traps!

Just took my bone stock 91 firebird LO3 305 TBI auto out, to top it out. The first run down the 5 mile road, It got up to 110 but way to scary once i passed 100 so i backed off , it had a little more in it but the road had way too many dips, The ignition cut out at around 115-120 It would'nt do any faster it just like shut down than when I took my foot off it started again and only got to 120 again. Not to bad for 170hp.

I was racing a 92 Z28 down I-70 between Knightstown Indiana and Newcastle Indiana. My IROC registers 145 and I know that the speedo's are very inacurate above 100 but I had the needle jumping from 120 145+ for about 10 miles in 4th gear at about 5000RPM. And I was pulling on the 92 Z.

1991 Z28, 305, auto, 2.73, exhaust and ported plenum, stock otherwise (at the time), maybe 210HP. Hit 110 before I had to slow down for traffic. It had some left but I don't think it'd manage over 130.
One other time sticks out in my mind because its kind of hilarious. On a vacation a buddy and I were going from Vegas to L.A. in a rented '99ish Grand Prix (205 HP rated 3.8). Well, those of you that live around there know that traffic flies. I'm used to a good clip; the traffic around Chicagoland expressways can go around 70-80 when it flows. We had some film to use up so we clicked a few pictures while driving. When we got back, I perused through the pictures and lo and behold, one of the pictures shows the instruments in the bottom. The way the picture is, what first caught my eye was the tach--it was at around 3500 rpm. I look over at the speedo and its in the triple digits! I don't remember if it was at 105 or 115, but I thought it was funny because I had no idea, I figured we cruised at about 80 tops (I wasn't trying to speed) the whole way--because at the time we were just lounging in the car for a relaxed trip, mildly hung over and if it wasn't for the pic we'd have never known were ever over 80--the traffic was light, any cars we passed were going hardly slower, though it looks like we were going down a slight incline from the picture.

I've hit 115 but then the computer cuts it off. I bet most camaros cars could go well into the mid 100's if it wasnt for the cut out

Get ready to wave the freakin bs flags at this. My Probe (yeah f-you...) does 125 easy. And it's got 116000 hard miles on a 2.2L four rated at 110hp. You do the math, 24.6" tires, .717 fifth gear, 4.105 "rear" gear (I don't want to confuse you kiddies), 5000rpm. I am not basing this on trying to estimate how far the speedometer is pegged out, but by real math, so laugh all you want. If the poor motor wasn't on its last leg, I'd wind it up to 6k. That equates to about 150 mph, but more than likely the drag would limit that I'm sure. Now who can beat that with similar power to weight?

Have you actually gone that speed or is that just theoretical? Any car, no matter how much power can theoretically achieve a certain speed, but unless you have tried to top your car out you really dont know how fast you can really go.

I was in my buddies Nova doing 160+ hehe, it's a 327 with .308 gears (he needs a rear end, gotta love 2.9ish 60's on average) His speedo only went to like 110 but he figured it out on rpm's, I forget what the exact # is. Hes pushing 450-500 horsepower too.
I've been 145 in my porsche 944 n/a hehe. 150 hp

His best is a 2.6 I think so far. And try launching at all on a one legger with .308's that's about to break in half if he ever does get a decent launch with it. He'll be into the low 12's/high 11's with a decent launch. Funny as hell watching him run though, if he gives it a little gas he spins down the track till he lets off. He usually can't go WOT until the 1/8th mile or so, even then he's gotten sideways near the end mark haha.

Hehe.
In my 84' I've done over 140 mph about 7 times.
In the 91' RS, I have approached 165 mph twice. It's very stable at those speeds for some reason. The front is lower than the rear by about 3/4 inch so the rake gives it more downforce.

I hit 145 one saturday morning in my old L98. I wasn't scared at the time but now that I think about I am. What was I thinking. I hit 125 with the ttops off, that was loud. Oh, that day I was on a service road and a cop got off the freeway and pulled me over. I could have continued my pace and lost him but I had some girls in the car and I didn't want any yelling or crying from them so I stopped. The cop said "I was doing 80 on the freeway and I just saw some red light rocket past me. He told me he understood what I was doing and he let me go after giving my car a long hard look. Needless to say that I learned my lesson.

I learned not to go very fast with the t tops off the hard way. One night I raced a stang up to 110 with the t tops off and now my headliner sags from the wind messing it up.

110-115mph in the city racing a mercedes (a friend was driving my car)... 115-120mph on the high way about a hundred times... i hate the speed limiter... every other car that you come across over here goes past 120.. almost.

took the '83 to 110 a few times which is about all the lg4 had, also took my old 1985 accord se-i to about 108 (very very time consuming) and ive only taken the l69 up to about 115, after loosing my liscence once ive learned its not worth it on public roads. my roommate has taken his yzf-1000 to 150 and he ran out of road, damn things will go 10sec 1/4's and 180mph top speed (guess what im saving $ for
)

155mph beside my friends 01T/A and still speeding up, no telling how fast that thing will go with the right suspesion setup.. At 155 that little guy in my head sad "damnit, slow the F*** down".. Gone 185 in a viper once(ridding shotgun) WOW whata rush.

Speaking of t-tops, back in 99' I went 156mph with them off and the windows down. Very loud especially passing under bridges and the motor screamming @6500. At the time this motor combo went pretty good. Just a 10.1 355ci, Edelbrock heads, Rpm intake, Rpm cam, I think it was 236@.050 and 244@.050 and around .500 lift, Holley 750 DP, Forged TRWs and a four spd. with the stock 7.5 and 3.23s. Seems like everybody these days has a 400+hp SBC, so I had to up the ante.
I didn't plan on going that fast on the wayhome from work, but I got out early it was a nice day with very light traffic. Just kept accelerating until 6500, pulled hard all the way, the rev limmiter was set @7000 but I had enough. Besides it was getting hard to see because of all the dust and crap from the floor mats flying around.

Wow just joined the post. Have been reading a lot of the threads. Why does everyone keep saying that going fast scared the **** out of them??? Hell I love going fast!!. Don't have the best of luck doing though.
Drove a 77 Monte past 130 and landed in a corn field. That car ended up in the junk yard.
Drove a 89 Dodge Omni 75mph through a Porch.
Drove my 88 Camaro well past 140mph on a trip to Flordia. Fell asleep at the wheel and slowed down. Woke up to a cop tappin on the window. Not because of the speeding but sleeping with the keys in the ignition.
Drive my 84 T/A well over 100mph daily on lunch runs from base.
I've only had the driver's license takin away once for too many points. LOL
Nice to meet all of ya,
Danimal

I'm at Wright Patt in Dayton. Been jsut about everywhere though. The most fun I've had driving though was in Italy. Man those f****** area CRAZY!!!! You get in the way and they drive the sidewalks and white line their bikes everywhere. I learned to adapt. They got these little cars over there that have 5 and 6 speeds and the gear ratios are sooooo close you just wind the little bastards up and go!!!! Prey to *** you don't blow it on the highways because if you don't know Italian you wasn't gettin' back!!!

115 so far, and that was in a 40 mph zone (pretty dangerous, huh?) at 115, its not really trying all that hard...feels like it can go much faster...I predict 140+. Haven't gotten the ***** or the road to go that fast yet though...

Well over 140mph (157mph according to the gear calculator).
I was redlined at 5K in 5th gear.

Did the same with this setup too, except I got there a bit quicker. 305 TPI with cam, est. 250rwhp. Does 99mph in the 1/4.
