I don't get what is going on in a dude's mind when he pulls up next to me in a honda whatever model and revs at me, light turns green and no matter how hard they try they can't even come close to keeping up. I mean even at idle my car isn't very quiet with the LS1 and straight through exhaust. It's like they think a civic is some kind of race car or something. I have buddies that have modded hondas but at least they know not to try to get down on cars like mine. I just don't get why most honda owners do that it just doesn't make sense.
i enjoy sitting at a light with em then rev the v8 like im gonna take off and race then just tool along while they blast off. sometimes the local prize patrol gets em and i get a kick out of that.

This is the point I was making. You just made an assumption that the motor hasn't been rebuilt it it's on it's last leg. You also assumed I was running a stock turbo. You then assumed it was completly stock yet. You also assumed it was running on the stock 10 pounds of boost. This is a common thing for people to do. I'm not bashing anyone and I know the mentality of this board. We can't assume any cars are stock and you can't assume a 25 year old turbo car is at all stock at that.
It's running 20 pounds, a 3 inch VAM, a FMIC, exhaust, T5, and a not stock computer to name the more basic mods. I'm not saying it's the fastest car out there, but it's not running 15.7s.

Normal assumption being that not a lot of ppl will build a car like this to the hills... most will be whooped and on their last leg. (if your lucky enough to find one) but i agree with you otherwise. I was talking stock to stock...

My Taurus doesn't even run 16's.
I don't know. It's a different car from when I got it though. I refuse to run it until I get the LSD in. It's actually the same style in the 4th gen Camaro. Just have to grind down my diff case. That and I'm doing rust repair right now.
This is when I first got it.
In this form it may have run 16s though.

Whipping them isnt good enough for me, I wanna break him down mentally. I take off and and stay ahead by a little then I let him get even with me, I look over at him, floor it and wipe that smile off his face. Its the funniest thing ever!!!!!!!!!! Honds are easy though, it's like playing chess with a kid you already know the outcome. Also why the heck do they think they can put musclecar badges on thier cars!!!!?? I took a set of "SS" badges off of an Integra in a Home Depot parking lot...... makes me sick.....

Man its so obvious... The whole thing in caused by all the lame a$$ fast and furious movies. These idiot kids watched it one to many times and now they think $500 in autozone acceseries makes for a fast car. You know what Im talking about? The matching flame graphic seat covers, steering wheel cover, and floor mats, euro tailights, plastic pedal covers, 747 wing, and of course the 700hp adding fart cannons. Its rediculous. Oh... I forgot to add big huge tach so you watch how slow the rpms climb.
I agree too there are some fast ones, just not sure where. Most of them are loud and obnoxious. I don't remeber where I saw or read it but, someone said basically that "horsepower makes noise, no the other way around." Now that I think about it I saw a 4dr Corsica last night with a fart tube on it, and the guy was delivery driver for Papa Johns I think.

Really turned into a "my _____ can take your _____" thread. haha I very much dislike when ppl compare cars to bikes, its so stupid. Maybe if my car weighed 3k less then you can compare. SO many bikes kids around my area are like "your car blows i whooped your ***!"...umm well you also weigh like 3k less than me dumb@ss! lol I did whoop an old ninja 500's @ss lol then got pulled pretty hard by a Honda CBR. I was impressed though i only got pulled by about maybe 2 car lengths by the time we hit 70 mph. Not too shabby i think... And "Firebird1992" Whats with the awful looking wing on the vette?

Wish it could but I have smoked 2 other c5's....Ive also smoked a Mercedes AMG SL55--470 hp (twice because he couldnt believe he got beat the first time)!
What you guys dont realize is that the Porsche 930 only weighs about 2700 lbs and puts out over 400 hp to the rear wheels--posi and with the engine over the wheels has no problem with traction. This car pulls like a sportbike (seriously).

Umm... unless its modded its not ANYWHERE near 400 whp.... the most they put out was 330ish at the flywheel... thats still pretty fast for a lightweight car nonetheless. Show me the dyno sheet and I'll believe you...
And no offense but i think my F-Body interior look a million times better than that Porsche's.... Kinda ugly...

I love the thirdgen Camaro interiors myself. Not exactly quality and practical, but it's very cool looking to me. They had a real unique design theme for it. It's got a personality that newer GM cars just dont have. I'll take my cockpit dash over a bunch of jelly beans and a cupholder any day.

Well maybe not in quality but the design, the Camaro interior has "more going on". That Porsche interior is just boring.... idk what else to say, it looks awful to me. I am not trying to offend anybody here either. Porsche are nice cars don't get me wrong but this car the exterior looks nice but not the interior. (to me)

Re: I just don't get it...(honda ppl)
When I was bored some days, I'd sit at an intersection on a country road, just waiting for cars to attempt to race me. I had taken everything from Dodge Ram Hemis, to an '07 Harley Dyna, to an older Yamaha R6. The R6 almost got me from 0-60, they're a quick bike. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds with a decent rider, I got lucky and went up against a not so good rider, since I could do 0-60 in roughly 4 seconds.
It was a funny day when I tried that. I used a stop watch, and a police speed sign contraption, and I got everything from around 3.70 seconds - 4.40 seconds. Not too accurate, because it takes them signs a while to update the speed, and I was holding onto my bike at 60, and trying to stop a stop watch.

yeah dirtbikes are alot faster than most people thing even a 125 is faster than most cars till it runs out of gear. my dad had a kx500 he bought new in the early 90's and didnt sell till like last year. now that thing was a nuts dirtbike. every time i rode it it reminded me of that scene from dr strangelove where the guy is riding the atom bomb as they are dropping it haha

How does one fit in there? Looks more cramped than my old '61 Beetle.
Why aren't European sports cars built for people over 6'? I haven't sat in another vehicle with more leg room than these thirdgens. It is a bit tricky getting out in my hard top camaro, but my ttop firebird is easy... I've lost count on how many times I've hit my head in my Camaro.

For many including me, it all comes down to class. I am the first to admit that there are imports with little overly built motors that would and have handed me my ***. Import drivers were around before F&F. One thing is true now as it was 10 years ago. You will see fast, modded imports, some nice others tasteless and gawdy. However people seek out Camaros, Birds, Vettes and Stangs restore and keep the history alive. My question here is how many people have you known or heard of that bought a 89 Civic, Integra...blah blah, for the sake of restoring a piece of history? Our cars have history, and class. Two things those guys wont have. They do it as a "me too" factor.

WTF??? Do you even know how rediculous that statement is? Unless you live in Texas (where everything is bigger) it would be impossible for you to have 3 car lengths on ANY car by the time you crossed an intersection and hit the opposite crosswalk. You can barely fit 3 cars into one city intersection. So then basically what you're saying is,.....you could make it all the way across the intersection in your 3rd Gen before a Honda or Import could make any forward movement!?!? Ok, "THAT" I would love to see!!!
.
Ok, I'll play.........I'll bet you the title to my house my Camaro can beat your bosses Porsche in any race up to a 1/4 mile.

He-he-heeeee.... That's funny!!! I was actually just kidding around. After going through this thread and watching it bounce from being about ricers to all the sudden being about who's car can beat who's.
On a more serious note,..........I'm actually surprise there's so many people here that let those (Ricers as you guys call them) get under your skin like that. Hell, I've even had a couple of 'em pull up next to me before (yes, in my '72).........but I just look at 'em and laugh. To be honest, that actually pisses 'em off more than if I whooped their @ss.
Besides that, there's not a single import driving punk out there that's worth getting a ticket over.......or worse yet, killing someone by trying to prove who's car is faster.

There are imports tht carry the same kind of legacy as american muscle cars. The Nissan Zs, Mazda RX-7s and Toyota Supra are the must have cars of the tuner maket. The later years of these cars pulled some sick numbers and for very little money. Also the older awd eclipse turbos can pull a mid 13 by just crushing the blow off valve, though they're techniclly not an import. These cars will be remembered 30 years from now

"Me too factor" c'mon....If you are into cars your into cars period, imports have cars that have made history in the automotive world...SUPRAS, skylines,Z's, not civic's maybe but still import's no matter how you look at them "tuners,*****'s" what ever, besides it has a lot to do with the times.... what most call "Rice" is people who try to give their old crappy car a new look with stuff that belongs on cars 10 years newer.

There's a couple nice Evo's and a WRX that are tuned/modded. Other than that, it's the typical "fart can" and spoiler/wing/ground effects.
The only ones I've seen restored are Supras and 300zxs.
It's all in the eye of the beholder...
But yeah, it seems the common "*****" buys Honda/Acura.
It's no different than those people who put all the plastic chrome trim.

Nope, doesnt sound stereotypical at all and I agree 100% with you. Once again sorry for the stereotype (Hell I am mexican too) but most ricers here or what are considered ricers here are mexicans and well their doing for the reason you said, its the ''in'' thing at the moment. Just like chrome rims are phasing out as well or the past one here which was the wide *** rims that stuck out about 4-6 inches out.
The mexicans here I don't mind, but the people my age are the really retarded ones and I wish drove themselfs into a lake. Driving like jackasses and thinking their badasses. I had a few try to impress me or act like a badass, due to me not noticing them and doing semi hard launches from lights (Bored ). One time this Acura Craptegra (Its the one with round lights at the front, thats it right) was behind me and I was injector problems at the time and I put it in Neutral and revved it a bit to see what was up. Next thing I know this kid peels it behind me and gets to the right of me and peels it again after the light went green a second later and almost curbed his car since he had to stop since there was a parked car there and I did not let him get in front of me. Jackass
They do bother me, but its the young ones my age that think their hot doodoo.

Its not a "black" thing, but more a "gangsta" or "thug" thing. Ive seen a bunch of white "gangstas" around here that think an Escalade with 20" or bigger chrome rims and a bangin stereo is more important than, say, being 25 and not living at home with your parents. Theres even a bunch of places around here where you can get rims on a rent to own basis......

so we should blame GM for this because they come with 20" stock 22" optional...c'mon this makes no sense...what does color or race have to do with anything ? but i guess if we checked other sites they are probably talking about people with thirdgens a bunch of r3dn3cks,hillbillies, wannavettcanaffordoneliveinthemiddleofnowere wanna be's...i guess the idea of anybody else trying to improve their cars handling with bigger rims and wider tires is a "gangsta thing" ha?

Well for the huge rims, I was more reffering to them on cars. Another "gangsta" thing to do is put those big *** rims on a car like a crown vic. My buddy just had one in his shop last week with rims so big you couldnt turn the wheel more than a 1/4 of the way around without the tires rubbing the frame. And the owner didnt think it was a problem as long as he had "dubs" on his "pimp *** ride" (his words). 20" rims on a truck or SUV isnt as bad, but something like 26" rims is just crazy. You have so much rim and so little rubber, the ride is just shitty.

The one thing I hate the most is the two that live up our road. Every weekend they are out late and come flying up the road past midnight and wake me up everytime with their fart cannons.
I am going to follow them one day, wait until they are sleeping, and go roaring by with my Firebird. That'll show them!
Or just flatten their tires...I haven't decided yet. I treasure my sleep, and hate to be distrubed. I'm a light sleeper.

There's plenty of both types of ricers out there, domestic and foreign.
My daily driver 8th gen 2008 Civic Si is bone stock, runs 14.9, and gets 32 mpg. It outperforms my 305 88 Camaro in every category, but if I were to poll 100 people in my town which of my cars was the faster one they would without a doubt pick the Camaro over my Civic.
Oddly enough, its the guys in big heavy V8 trucks that are the ricers where I live. And Cavaliers. Good lord there are a lot of them.
Frankly, I don't waste my time with any street racing. Its pointless because even if you beat someone there is always a million excuses as to why they lost and how they would have beat you if it wasn't for this, this, and that.
At the track, when the tree lights up, the bull stops there. No excuses.

Yup haha. I am on a few Honda forums. I get crap over there for owning a Camaro, and now that the cat is out of the bag that I own an Si on this board I can expect the same here lol.
Whatever, I personally never got the whole domestic vs import thing. I have owned everything from a lifted mud bogger, to a turbo accord w/h22 swap to a sportbike to a 450hp Mustang Gt and everything in between. If it has at least 1 wheel and a motor, I am going to drive it! haha

Their are retards who own cars both domestic and import. I personally think after the honda kids the next biggest tools are the 4th gen f-body owners.

Re: I just don't get it...(honda ppl)
My buddy suggested I get a civic because they're cheap to buy initially and cheap to build up. I decided to go with my 3rd gen F-body because it was cheap to buy initially too and I'd consider it relatively cheap, if not easier even, to build up. Good luck finding little parts for your JDM motor in a local junkyard. I've got nothing against real JDM but living in North America I think it's just cheaper and easier to have access to quality parts or any parts for that matter. (For a domestic as compared to an import that is)
As for the "rice" aspect of it... Well, pretty colours and loud noises attract a lot of people. As stated above their are "ricers" who own domestics too.

i just got 1 thing to say about them rice burners, if you put the same amount of money into a rice burner as you do AMERICAN MUSCLE no matter the amount, AMERICAN MUSCLE will come out on top everytime.... thats just my opinion....
