Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
So I went to this party with my girlfriend. I didnt know many people there so I figured "hey, I dont know anyone so the best way to relax is to get drunk.
The whole time I was there I kept hearing some guy talk about his honda at the track beating mustangs and camaro's, sticking with WRX's. Talking about his clutch kit and cold air intake, his exhaust, his big bad "single cam v-tec" like it was so great.
I started to let the drinks kick in and got to know a few more people. Once I heard him say "ya dog, I run 7.3 at the 1/4 at qualcomm." I had to scream "F*** HONDA'S"
When we started to argue, I was mostly clowning on the lies he was feeding everyone about how fast he claims he is and he claimed I know nothing about cars and to go to UEI (too bad UEI only offers management and computer courses in san diego, dummy.)
He kept telling me to race him after I explained to him over and over that I dont have an engine in my camaro, and showed him a picture of my camaro with no engine in it. It camaro is probably still faster then his car with an engine or not.
I finally told him to pop his hood so I can see how much of the truth is behind his story. He denied claiming I could be a thief, so I told him, since he went to qualcomm drag races 2 days ago,to show me the 7 sec. time slip. "I never got one". I let him know his mom isn't going to be too happy with all the rice he's putting into her car and EVERYONE started laughing, even the neighbor who wasn't even attending the party.
Once I embarrassed the crap out of him, I pulled him to the side and asked him how much hp, what his real time was at qualcomm and why he wont pop his hood.
"I'm not saying your a thief or nothin dawg, but you know how word gets around." "My hp is about 200hp and real time was 7.9, I'm not lying"
Whats funny is before I went to the party I was watching a video about the fastest 1/4 mile time for a supra which was 7.6 and that guy had 1400hp.
Comments? lol

he's the typical tool, doesnt even know how fast 7 sec in the quarter really is and what needed to go that fast, would be surprised if he is even going 7.9 in the 8th

I think he meant to say 17.3 .
Isn't that an older vtec? So his mods get him a low to mid 15 at best. I'm not harping on Hondas or anything, but a 200 hp bike won't get you 7.3 in the 1/4, so how would it in a car lol?

Haha, he probably doesnt even know what the clutch kit he claims he has in his car looks like.
he reminded me of the type of people who put intercoolers in front of there N/A car and put an air filter on one side and hook the other side up to the intake. ANYONE EVER SEE THAT BEFORE? My neighbor wanted to do it haha.
Or the one sided intercoolers like this

I work on hondas (dealership so i actually just replace the broke parts) And I have to say I would never buy a honda. They are over priced plastic cars held togeather with 150 clips and 2 bolts and they hold down the cheap leather seats. Every year the parts for these car get cheeper and cheeper and cost more money. I HATE HONDA AND THEIR BMW WANNA BE BROTHER ACURA.

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
The single overhead cam vtec he is talking about is probably the f22b1 motor from about 94-98 i think, I personaly had one in my 1992 accord coupe even with a act stage 1 clutch cai milled head port and polish, straight pipe exhaust short shifter 110 octane fuel a tune and full on adjustable suspension that thing wouldnt come close to a stock mustang gt or my nieghbors firebird 305 so yeah i agree no amount of upgrades except maybe a blown big block in a crx could put a honda of any kind in the sevens, mine ran about a 14 but that was going by a dash mounted unit/ accelerometor so thank you for calling his **** it is people like that that give all honda owners a bad name even though some of the cars can be quick they can never be fast

I wonder how many Hondas and other rice mobiles that I've seen with intercoolers are just 'fakin' it. hehehe...
I think the Honda guys hate everyone else on principle. I know the AWD Turbo guys hate me (although, its more just a lack of respect):
They'll hate my Z28 even more when its boosted!

LAWL lol i hate ppl that put a STUPID amount of money into a car like a civic say someone drops 5k into a civic it will still only perform as well as a stock chevy i remember when i got my first car it was a 2002 bone stock bottom of the line chevy impala and a kid in my school wanted to race me with a 1998 civic that had a stupid amount of money put into it. well we went the distance of 15 telephone poles and he was 3 cars lengths behind me he didnt even stop never looked at me in the eye again lol.

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
Honda does make great motorcycles. Probably not the fastest, but well performing reliable bikes.
As far as civics are concerned, there are fast ones out there, but those are few and far between. The advantage of the older ones is that they are light cars and doesn't take a lot of power to get them going fast. The newer ones however are much heavier and I doubt that they have the same kind of performance potential. I guess this is why so many people swap engines from the newer v-tech cars into the old CRXs.
I consider a civic to be a motorcycle on 4 wheels without the motorcycle performance. At least their power curve resembles that.

i second the honda sucks!!!! as far as the story, i had the same thing happen with a vw golf guy. he said about the same thing , mid 7s in the 1/4, talkin trash on "lead sleds". so i happened to have my 75 455 firebird with me, needless to say, my low 13 second car stomped his vw golf that supposedly ran mid 7s. after i told him he must be confused with his 0-60 ft times, he got red faced and peeled out with his tail between his legs.

I hate hondas because the way people act when they have one. They swear hondas are faster then ferrari's.
The truth about most honda owners is that their mom got them a car for their birthday, they watched fast in the furious and saw all the little hondas going under the truck, looked in their garage and crammed their heads with a bunch of lies abot how fast they were going or what type of clutch kit they used to beat a wrx or viper on the freeway.
Almost every younger person I know that owns a honda swears it can beat anything but have a hard time popping the hood when someone asks to see

It sounds like you guys hate rice drivers, not Hondas. I can certainly agree with that.
Sorry, I get defensive when people start picking on Honda. Its not their fault they make cars that dumb kids ruin.

Fake intercooler's..... you have got to be shitting me.
That is so sad and pathetic.
Honduh's and crapalears make owning a moderately quick car fun.
For example: I got double flipped off the other day by a civic with "hondatech.com" or some ghey crap plastered on the side windows... when he went to pass me on the highway I just goosed it a little and let the pipes bark, jumped them a length and let back off. The whiny ***** slammed on the brakes and tailgated me untill the next exit, when the lanes seperated- THEN driver and passenger flipped me and my brother off. We were LULZING the whole time...brightened my day a little more. We just waved back.

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
I happen to like hondas just not alot of their owners.I also find it pointless to argue with the lesser of the younger honda owners who think a d series motor is going to keep up against even a tired lg4 305.I rather just say nut up or shut up and run and leave it at that.
I dont blame honda itself for making a car that can be made fast as cheaply as it is to build a sbc all on just 4 very small cylinders is nothing to sneeze at.I give respect where its due.And the true honda owners that are fast hate those fast n furious types aswell that put such a bad rep out there..but believe me they respect us for the way we can down right spank them from the line. Some of us dont have the luxury to make power past 7 grand where as imports prefer a much higher rpm range to make power..especially boosted power and reel us in on the long stretch.Apples to oranges..is it hondas fault..no.Is it movies and media hype that bring out the wannabe's and trash talkers..yes.
I had the pleasure to see a a run of a trash talker in a civic..who wouldnt pop his hood or say what mods he had but claimed to be an 11 second car.Well my friend is a mid 12 second civic hatch rust bucket with a honda v6 very well built on the inside and caged.raced this poor kid to show him what happens when you talk **** to a true fast honda.10 car lengths is not a good look on the street he never came back to the car meets in our area..goo figure.

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
I know theres a line between honda and rice, but the line is so thin in san diego that they all fall into the same category.
Out here, hondas are everywhere, they all have aftermarket spoilers, usually very tall or aluminum. They all have stock exhausts with an ebay muffler, they all sound like crap, although not all of them have v-tech (ring ring), the owners drive them and talk about them like they do. On top of all this, they all claim v-tech (ring ring) is better then any other power adder.
I would respect them if they werent so blinded by their vehicles emblem and respected other peoples cars. But, unfortunately, they all claim their hondas are economy ferrari's.
I understand I'm not supposed to hate the car, Im supposed to hate what the driver did to it, but that is very hard when every honda I see has rice plants growing from it.
It belongs in the house, not in the engine bay

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
Another note, I understand the reliability and economy of a honda.
I know you can take it from california to florida and only have to fill up a few times.
Has anyone ever heard of a toyota celica? My 1989 celica beater got 30+ to the gallon and lasted almost 3 years and 70,000 with rod knock. Im talking long car rides from south san diego to north san diego DAILY to see my girlfriend. It had oil leaking from the distributor, super low oil pressure, never had a single tune up or oil change, but it pulled me for 3 years before losing the cylinder. I was only 15, I didnt know how to treat a car, I lead myself to believe the knocking was a loose heat shield.
Well to the point, my neighbor had an old carbureted CRX with oil leaking from one of the seals. He got his car a little after I bought my celica. His car eventually caught rod knock from such low oil pressure and his CRX only lasted 3 months before losing the cylinder. Mine was still pushing back and forth, for another 2 years before breaking down. economy? reliabilty?

im more into american muscle, but ive always liked the old toyotas, i have an 86 toyota pickup, with a 4cyl 22r motor and its been very reliable, it has 426,000 miles on it, all ive ever had to do on it was the regular oil changes, replaced the spark plugs and tires, its been driven to florida and back twice and to dallas from shreveport, la several times, ive had it since i was 16, so around 6 years, and have put 130,000 on it since i got it, its only a 90hp motor lol, but its a reliable ride

Mine was still pushing back and forth, for another 2 years before breaking down. economy? reliabilty?
Its not the car's fault if you don't keep enough oil in it. All cars need regular maintenance.

Re: Got in an arguement with a rice patty!
I'm missing the point. I got rod knock on my stock 350TPI at 55,000 miles. Guess what, I only got another 5-7 miles out of it before the engine froze up. And thats with very careful maintenance.

The point is reliability. If you have 2 cars in the same condition, being driven and maintained the same way, the one that breaks down first is the least reliable one.

Its pretty ridiculous to base an entire company's reliability on how long a single unmaintained car ran after initial rod knock. Its your fault you didn't maintain the car, not Honda or Toyota. The facts are both companies make reliable cars.

I was just wondering if anyone has ever noticed ricers never pay attention when there is a cop watching them? I have had on two seperate occasions that a ***** pulled up next to me I pointed at the cop car that was just waiting to pull someone over and they still insisted on revving their fart cans at you and taking off just to be pulled over and be embarrassed. I LOVE THAT! I even had one in a spray painted Geo Metro with plexiglass windows, crappy stereo blaring rap, and a tailpipe you could fit your fist into pull up next to me at a redlight and rev at me then take off before the light was even green! Then he started swirving lane to lane as if it was his victory lap that he beat my stock Sunfire GT. Then I see a state cop fly past me and pulled his a** over! I drove the rest of the way to work smiling

That intake in the second photo I remeber seeing on Horsepower TV years ago when they did a build on a Honda Civic. The guy they found as an "expert" was some a$$clown ***** from the local track with a terrible lisp and a 15 second Lexus or Infinity. The whole car was a disaster IMO and later on they did a motor swap with a way more knowledgeable guy, and the first thing he did was throw away that gay intake.
On another note, I can't stand to watch that show anymore. All they ever do is build rustang after rustang. I can only count twice that they actually featured a thirdgen. One was red drop top bird with an LO3 they lightly modded. Another was an old beat up Z28 with a 406 and a glide that they installed a nitrous kit on.

I saw aright hand drive honda last night trying to race a celica.
I asked my honda r!cing neighbor if he knew about the right hand drive honda and he filled me in on how the guy participated in organized street races and is a car thief. I had to laugh because all I can think about is the fast and furious guys going under trucks

I will never understand the person that buys a front wheel drive car then put a wing on the rear . Does that not take weight off the front tires? You need a spoiler or wing on a rear wheel drive to get traction at high speeds. Or the moron that adds drag slicks to a front wheel drive car.

They just add the spoilers for looks very few cars that come from the factory actually benefit from them. I'm talking about the big wings that look like they should be on a Top Fuel dragster. I see them around here on Neons, Geos other tuna cans.

I respect a stock Honda that's used as a DD or whatever as much as I respect any basic car (which admittedly is very slightly less than say a standard Chevy, since I DO prefer American, but I digress). And I respect a true fast Honda as much as any cool hot-rodded vehicle. What I don't respect, as most of you guys have already said, is the r!cer culture and the people involved in it. It is stupid and doesn't make sense. I disklike "Donks" and other stupid stuff just as much; that sure doesn't mean I dislike 80s G-bodies or an old Chevelle! Just hate to see them made into donks. Hondas are just fine if stock, and if made fast, then that's cool and all. Its the stupid kids and people that give them a bad rep.
