91 firebird vs. 1981 camaro

okay so my dad thinks he can beat my 91 firebird, with his 81 camaro, the camaro has a 305 in it just to be able to move it for now while the 454 is getting ready to be put in. But he says he can beat me with the 305 that is in it, his car has 3.27 gears, and a th350 for a tranny. My car has a 305, with 3.08 gears and a 5 speed. I think my car will win just becasue its lighter, we are taking them to the track in may, but i just want to know what you guys think. btw im only 16 and having a faster car than my dad is all i have on him .

Re: 91 firebird vs. 1981 camaro

if his 305 is stock, you will win. I think in 81 305's were rated at 140hp. All though, my friend had an 81 camaro with a cammed 305,headers, dual exhaust and a quadrapuke that could run with my 77 formula 400.

his came out of a 1986 jimmy, and has open flowtech headers, a victor jr intake, and heads that are slightly beater than stock, and it has a holley 750 with vacum secondaries. mine has a flipped over air filter lid lol

lol you better believe it. The only reason its in there is so we can move it around for now while we get our 454 ready to drop in it

Re: 91 firebird vs. 1981 camaro

Engine wise its about even. The advantage you have is the lighter car. That manual may help you out if you can shift well.

Re: 91 firebird vs. 1981 camaro

Personally I think he would beat you because while 3rd gens are a little lighter 2nd gens hook up better and he has better gears to get him out of the hole, an automatic that is going to shift perfect and probably a few more horsepower. Run em and put it on Youtube!
