To all saying that you can get it to hook if you want it to....yes, I agree with you, you can most deffinately get a street car with big horsepower hook, however it requires the proper set up for that. I personally Like a car to drive well on the street and handle decently around corners, so I am not as focused on straightline drag set ups.
To all saying I should make more HP on a boosted 5.3.....you are taking an engine that makes 320 or so flywheel horsepower, adding ONLY boost, and cranking out 530 RWHP. Thats about 620 or so flywheel horsepower. I dont know about you, but no ones going to tell me that with just a good tune, you will have a SAFE and decently RELIABLE summer driver. Can you make 700 WHP, yea prob, but thats a bomb waiting to go off. Anyone that wants to argue that is just being ignorant.

Re: Roll Racing = failboat???
Boost only, thats good. Keep in mind that when LS1 guys talk "exhaust only" or "intake only" they dont really mean only. Its with supporting mods. So an "intake only" LS1 will almost always have a throttle body, and a tune as well. It gets deeper when the owner says "heads/cam/intake only", so when you say boost only, some might assume you mean alot more.
Then again, some people just like to argue, and see people get pissed off on the internet.

Re: Roll Racing = failboat???
I'll give you guys my car for an afternoon ... if you can figure out how to hook up 650whp on the street without starting at a roll from 55-60 mph, OR taking 2 minutes to get up to speed from a dig, then I'll agree with you on these statements. i'll even put the ET streets on the car first.
High hp cars need to roll race if your going to street race or else its just boring. Having to pedal/baby the car to 60mph isnt fun nor is it really racing. If you want a dig race go to the track or prep the street like the track..its been done before.

Re: Roll Racing = failboat???
My take on it is, racing from a roll is one of the most common forms of street racing. Some of the safest roads to race on as in little public activity and traffic is roads that you can't stop on and do a three honk. Ik personally that my car will not grab at all from a stop, but when u go from a dig the momentum of the tires rotating keeps the car from breakin loose. Now i got a buddy that cant grab pavment no matter roll or stop, he has spent aorund 2K on suspension and he also has drag radials. Mainly he'll race from a stop with drag radials and at a roll with street tires. It really just depends on how u got the car built.

Re: Roll Racing = failboat???
I'm not understanding all the hate on roll races either. From a dig is lots of fun, but sometimes it's more convenient to have a race from a roll. Not to mention if you are driving around on normal sized street tires, 400+hp does NOT hook well from a stop.
In fact, in my 1989 WS6 on stock size tires it doesn't like to hook up in WOT at anything less than 55mph on a GOOD road. Even a roll from 30-35mph and it's just going to look like a rolling burnout. Do you guys drive around on 275+ wide drag radials?
