thats pretty close to what i was thinking. i dont plan on having a 305 in there for to much longer and the 10 bolts gotta go. I just wanted to know roughly what it would run so i can see how much improvements i get once i drop the new motor in it. I dont wanna run the car cause a 305 is not meant for racing and i dont wanna tear it to ****.

Your looking at a best of a high 15 if your luckey. I'm going to say 16.3 due to the fact that the car has no real power adders....

"cricketrs: what up i'm new to the site and i have a 91 rs with a carberated 350 out of a g20 van it only has a flowmaster muffler and no cat my uncle wants to race me for 200 bucks in his bone stock 94 impala ss if i cant what could i do to beat him? oh ! and my camaro is a auto. sorry about that for your question i'll give you a very low 14sec............. Wow is all i can say to that....... o and a 94 Impala SS would ruin your car....

"Red Baron 361: What would i run? i got a 305 with edelbrock intake and an edelbrock 750 4bbl and a B&M shift kit B&M megashifter, posi rear end and headmen headers 3" pipe flowmaster super 44 "

O and have fun running ridiculously rich in that 305 with a 750.. I run just fine with a 600 on my 357.... 750 is WAY too big...

"willy825: thats pretty close to what i was thinking. i dont plan on having a 305 in there for to much longer and the 10 bolts gotta go. The 305 is basically the same engine as a 350 just smaller bore and stroke... SO if your afraid to run a 305 than don't bother racing just about anything. A 305 will take the same abuse as a 350 will..... And it all depends on what quality parts they were built with, you can build a pretty indestructible 305 if you wanted to.

I am officially saddened by this thread.....

Mid-15s. You are probably putting down about 120-130rwhp...

You do know that a car with around 120-130rwhp weighing in at around 3500(typical third gen with someone in it) is going to run high 17's right? mid 15's is literally impossible, i would be impressed to see 16's....

Re: What do you think I'd run?

yeah, the 305 tbi's will run a high 16 low 17 if he's lucky. With headers and a full exhaust, 16's is possible. I don't see 15's happening, at all.

Re: What do you think I'd run?

Well, I did see a completely stripped out camaro with a 305 tbi, headers, full exhaust, no cats, K&N filter, and underdrive pulleys run at the track on a 45 degree day, ran a 16.8 but the 350 tpi firebird he was next to with headers, full exhaust, AFPR, runners, big mouth, and ported plenum ran a 13.5ish right next to him. The bird spun coming out of the hole and the camaro didn't. Hard to believe that even though the bird spun out of the hole, and the camaro didn't, the bird still won by a LONG shot. TBI's are good for gas, not for speed.

I guess I was giving the low gearing of the 700R4 and 200+ tq too much credit. I've never run a LO3 at the track...

Re: What do you think I'd run?

the TBI 305 auto coupe should be at least a high 15 sec car stock. my 84' LG4 Z28 (150hp) ran a 16.0 at 85mph bone stock. unless the RS has really crappy gears it should do around that or better with 20 more hp

ive heard of a guy on this board running a 15.4 in his stock L03 camaro. however, that was a factory 5 speed, 3.42 geared coupe. i could see a 2.73 rear, auto, vert being a high 16 sec car though

I will confirm the theory.

You don't care about performance, and you have a 305TBI, keep driving it.

You want to mod it? Forget it, just do an engine swap, anything will be better.

With the price of 5.3L LSx based engines there is no reason not to simply junk the old motor and go into a LSx based engine. The HP/$ is way up there.

Re: What do you think I'd run?

Magazines back in the day listed the LO3 cars as mid 16 sec out of the factory. I borrowed a gtech and tested my RS 16.8 is what it said. I added full exhaust shift kit chip under drives 160 stat free tbi mods and shift kit and bareley beat my buddies bone stock 87 monte ss(l69, 3.73 rear) by about a fender. Thats why i swapped to 350 tpi power and 3.73 gears. although probably to much gear for the engine i am planin a lt1 swap
